Has he "OFFICIALLY" signed all of his retirement papers or is there still time for a deal? Because the last I heard Mason was having a meeting with Harbs and I havnt heard anything since than.

Do you mean "Harbaugh was having a meeting with Mason?"

As far as I know that's still the plan, and Mason has not officially retired yet.

If he had signed his retirement papers, I'm sure it would've been reported. I have a a feeling he will either come back or officially retire after his meeting with Harbaugh.

I read somewhere that Harbaugh was still on vacation but once he got back (sometime this week) he would be talking to Mason to see how dead set he is on retiring.

We dont know anything conclusively but from whats been reported the general feeling at the castle is that Mason will be back and even he said he might change his mind. We are just going to have to wait this one out.

All that happened was an announcement on a website. Not only is that very unprofessional, but more likely the idea by an agent then a player of his character. Honestly, it's weird for Mason not to come to Ozzie's office and tell him face to face like Willie Anderson and Jonothan Ogden did before him. Jocklife.com thinks they're a ligit site, but they're not. They are not affiliated with the Baltimore Ravens or the NFL. They are more like TMZ than ESPN. It was wrong for them to title their article, "Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Derrick Mason officially announces his retirement from the NFL", when it was in fact NOT "official"!

Technically, in order for a retirement to become "official", a player must send a letter to the NFL stating his retirement. After the letter is processed then and only then will you be recognized as "retired". Just because you say you're going to retire does not make it official in the eyes of the NFL. If Harbaugh can sit down and have a good talk with Mason and offer him the contract he wants, Mason could in fact report to training camp, no harm, no faul.

Although, if Mason sends his retirement papers to the league before or after the talk, then he's done and Flacco will be looking for a new #1.
