Favorite Ravens-browns Memories

35 posts in this topic

What stands out as memorable when these 2 teams meet.

Mine is Jamals 295 yard game in 2003. I was supposed to be there, but messed up my knee and could not be at the game.

Jamal's 295 yard performance against the Brownies would ultimately have to take the cake for me...though he would've had over 300 yards rushing but the penalty brought it back

13-20 Ravens, Browns driving down the field. Jeff Garcia throws in the endzone, Ed picks it off runs 106 yards for the TD Ravens win on Sunday Night.

Well I'll be the only one to chime in the favorite Browns memories apparently.. but that's ok. :P Side note as much as it did suck I was at the Jamal Lewis game as well and while of course it sucked it happened, at least it was kind neat to be part of history.

As far as my personal favorite memory? Has to be the December '02 game in Baltimore where Couch led the team 92 yards and essentially eliminated any playoff hopes for the Ravens with a 14-13 victory. Hasn't been a lot of great Browns memories (at least on the good side) since the return in '99 but that is certainly one I vividly remember.

Burnnnnnnnn! I also remember that game too.

LOL. I also remember him waving bye to the fans as he left the stadium. Did he happen to pass by your section with his wave? :P

Uh I was there. Dave stayed pissed off all week and they all but had to restrain Tom and Ed. That was the first game there was no post tailgate.

Mine would be of course Jamal Lewis rushing for about 300 YRDS against them LOL. Even though now I cannot stand the guy after some of the comments he made about our organization etc.. I just hope we stop him because you all know SUNDAY he is going to come in and play is HEART OUT LIKE ITS THE SB AGAINST US FOR SOMETHING TO PROVE FOR LETTING HIM GO. I don't want to get embarrassed by Jamal by any means necessary.

It'll be interesting to see how he performs. Chud has disappointed me overall with his lack of run commitment. I mean you take away the 51 point outburst we had, Lewis has 26 total rushing attempts in the other two games. Granted against Oakland, Chud at least *tried* to establish a rushing attack but eh.. just didn't pan out. Problem is our OLine has been doing an outstanding job with pass protection but run blocking.. not so well so far.

I'll be very interested to see how they perform against the tough Ravens defense. Anderson has only been sacked twice in 11 quarters so far so I'm curious to see how well they perform against a tough test.

I just don't see Jamal doing much against us we know him very well and also we are #1 right now in the league at stopping the run. If we stopped all of them GREAT one day soon to be HALL OF FAMER RB's last year with the same guys except AD and held LT, LJ etc.. under 100 yards we can sure do it to JAMAL. I bet they don't give him a lot of carries knowing how good we are against the run they might let him start off to try and run to see if he deserves a lot of carries but he will be held to not much yardage and then they will just pass most of the game. And knowing Jamal, Cleveland is mainly going to attack us most of the game threw the air.. Jamal is going to beg the Coach for a lot of carries and he won't get it and then he will start crying and get mad at the team like he did to us before because he felt he didn't have enough carries sometimes.

Sucks we ended up getting rid of Anderson and he ended up in our enemies HANDS. I thought from the get go the kid should have been kept on the team he was AWESOME when he had pre-season snaps. I thought they should have made him our 3rd stringer but noooo they made a BAD move letting him go and the end up in Cleveland's back yard is even worse. This is going to be a tough game!! I know it from the get go. And he will probably expose our weak spot which is only 1 I know of and make the guy look BAD all game..

I hear ya there and more than likely, you're probably right. But as with our 51 point blowup, you just never know! I'll be optimistic at least. :D

Remember that happened once. Do you actually think thats going to be consistent play?! and let alone against a #1 ranked DEFENSE. BENGALS D IS very VULNERABLE compared to OURS. SO GOOD LOOK. I don't see Anderson getting much over 200 yards passing, maybe 250 or so. And I am sure he will throw a TD but thats about it probably and two AT THE MOST. or 1 TD and a rushing TD from JAMAL only because he will need a few yards pounded in which isn't going to be to hard for a guy who is getting FAT. I see Cleveland scoring only 2 TDS the whole game and if ne other points Field Goals.

I am sure a lot of the same play will come from us maybe a few TDS only being we cannot seem to do well in the REDZONE for way to many YEARS now. I think we will get down their enough to get 21 points or so get a TD maybe even 2 before half but we will also fail down there for TDS and have to turn to some FIELD GOALS as well.. But I hope not.. I am only going by how we play in the REDZONE.. I hope we progress in that area one day!!. And only reason you guy's handled Cinci was because of your long balls, we can't do that with McNair and our players are not coached really for that kind of play mainly more for the 5 and 6 yrd gains moving up field getting first down after first down and killing time on the clock.

But I think we need to start doing that and getting our offense churning A LOT more with throwing the BALL DEEP like we did last year on one play to D-will AKA SPIDER MAN over TROY PALOMALUS HEAD for a 69 yd or so TD.

No what I meant by the 51 point comment is that anything is possible week in and week out. Not saying we'll do that every week of course not.. just meant that you never know what to expect from game to game.

More than likely you'll have no trouble scoring points, our defensive front 3 is old and lacks the ability to get pressure on the QB. Our secondary while down the road looks promising, for now they're young and inexperienced and get burned way too often. I can see Mason having a BIG day against us unfortunately.

As far as Anderson if I recall last year he had around 240 or so passing and had 2 TDs and 2 INTs, more than likely he'll have a performance similar to that if not slightly less. He has progressed on his reads for sure but he gets a bit antsy sometimes with his throws and completely misses his targets. Any word on McNair and if he's playing or not?

McNair will be playing in this game, though Billick may decide to continue what he did last week (taking McNair out in the 4th and putting Boller in) IF he see's that the Injury is still bothering him, Billick didnt like the way some of his over thrown passes were thrown when he planted that back foot, so he thought id safe to take him out and let him rest up.... we could see the same exact thing this week if McNair shows signs of the Injury bothering him enough to effect his performance, just until the Injury is over and done with and McNair can get back to what he does best

Sucks we ended up getting rid of Anderson and he ended up in our enemies HANDS.

Billick tried to keep him on the practice squad (couldn't fit him on the roster so its the next best way of retaining a player for the future) but before we could the Browns snatched him up. Personally, while the 295 yard game and Ed's record-setting int were oth amazing, I love watching the Ravens play the Browns because it's always been a tough tough game almost every time. When the Browns come to town (or when we go to theirs) they at least bring it and put on a damn good show. Not to say I wouldn't mind the Ravens blowing the Brown's out but it does make it interesting and fun to watch.

last year 's games were nail bitters for sure! lol came down to at least a last second Field goal by Matt Stover :) :)

this year i would expect pretty much the same, though this time i feel we're better prepared and (as i have read and watched from the Browns team interview and what not) they're defense has holes in it that Runners can bust through and they said that they are having alot of trouble stopping the run and all...good news for us!!!! woot woot!

I *wish* it were just holes our defense had in it... more like school size hallways. It's bad and it's not gonna get much better unfortunately.. just age. Big Ted is no longer really Big Ted and we don't get any pressure on the QB at all hardly so it doesn't surprise me teams run all over us. Sucks of course but just how it is right now. My assumption is that defense will be addressed in the '08 draft.

Personally of course I'd love a victory but at long as Cleveland just keeps it close and tries I'm happy, I know we ain't a good team right now but the effort is always good to see.

haha School Size Hallways thats a good one, made me laugh! lol :) yea i see your point, i mean we as raven Fans do NOT want yet another nail biter close game lol we want our offense AND defense to come out swinging, get those Gains and extra yards and just rack up the points so that there wont be a nail biter game....Us Raven Fans dont want that again lol thats for dang sure

Oh I ain't worried at all. =] This is one of the few recent matchups where I feel confident we have a chance. May as well try this week cause as optimistic as I like to be, we go to New England the following week.

HAH!

my my You are Confident! thinking the browns can mess with the Big Boys lol you must keep in mind sir that Jamal is an Ex-Raven in which there has been alot of off-season moves and offensive changes and Defenses have been added and or Modified...so you cant expect Jamal to help out TOO much lol...epecially when it comes to Ray!

HAH!

it almost worries me you said that. haha. almost

if Rolle was out again this week I'd be worried, because I know the backups are gonna get picked on all day long if that happens again, now that Warner trashed em like he did.

However, we know Jamal's style, our defense trained against him for what, 7 or so years? and a lot of the players who were with us then are still here today so most of em know what to expect. Ray Ray is gonna have a field day with Ol' Chud
