Suggs Resigns! $63M/6Yrs

How cool would it be if Brown took the 6 a year offer though, this line for the next 10 years

Gaither - Grubbs - Brown - Yanda - Oher

Amazing, although im happy with Birk for the lower wage as he gives us something Brown didnt have last year and that is experience against bliztes. Birk is the smartest center in the game and will pick up blitzes well. I just hope he is teaching Chris Chester a few things as thats who i want as his replacment

Forget the $63M... the $33.1M guaranteed is the real $$ involved, and it's a fair price considering what he's already done, his age, his durability, etc. This extension saves us around $2M under this year's Cap, and if Mason retires, that's another $3M, which should be more than enough to bring in a veteran WR on a 1-year deal.

I liked Ozzie's comments about retaining pro bowlers and paying them well for their good play. I look forward to deals being reached with Oher and Kruger next.

Finally. Congrats to Suggs.

That sure seems like too much cash for Suggs, especially so much of it guranteed, but I'm sure Oz knows what he's doing based on his phenominal track record

What is your proof that he doesn't make anyone better? That's a statement that you could say about anyone but doesn't need any proof to back it up. And when our defense plays bad, the whole defense plays bad, not just Suggs, so what are you getting at with that point?

In the AFC championship game when we weren't getting that much pressure on the QB, Suggs got two sacks with a seperated shoulder (which everyone gave Mason credit for playing with one shoulder but Suggs doesnt get that much credit for it). Those sacks were huge in that game. He is a playmaker and a unique player. You can't find those kind of players anywhere. He isn't a product of the system and he is one of the most important players of our defense. He creates an element of versitility for our defense.

When the defense is playing bad, Suggs doesn't step up and make an impact when we need him. Look at his season when we went 5-11, all our best playmakers were down and injured. You would think with all the money he was asking for he would step up and help the D produce, instead he had one of the worst seasons. He feeds off the defense, the defense does not feed off of him. That is what im getting at.

Nice job in the AFC championship game, thanks to his efforts we beat pittsburgh... wait no we didn't. I've seen bench players and other losers get 2 sacks in one game too, but i'm not going to over rate them either. If we could save 63 mil for sacrificing 8 sacks, which im sure barnes or kruger could make up, it would be smart. Suggs is a fantastic player imo, but he isn't elite or worth that kind of money. We have the highest paid linebacker of all time, but isn't even half as good as best of all time, or the best in the NFL last year alone, it makes no sense.

No more talky for you. Are you really degrading his performance when he played with a severe shoulder injury? He played in that game even though he didn't have to and he excelled!

Some people..

What a ridiculous comment. When our team/defense wasn't that good do you remember what our main weakness was? Cornerback. Do you remember why we got torn up so badly? Because no matter how good our pass rush was our corners would always get burned. To some extent cornerbacks need to contain receivers for long enough that the qb can't just release it quickly so the pass rush can get there. Not only that, to help our cornerbacks, we would drop our linebackers in coverage more. Terrible argument. You have no legit point. Football is a team sport. It doesn't matter how good of a player you are if your team is terrible.

How many pro bowls have kruger and Barnes gone to? So the fact that Suggs has the respect around the league as one of the top linebackers means nothing? I forgot Suggs needs to make every single play otherwise he sucks. Ridiculous

You right, take Demarcus Ware for example. Have been having beastly years since he came into the league, yet, look at the outcome of the Cowboys.

Your comment is OD awful. Suggs had two TDs last year, those are game changers. This isn't close to basketball where one guy can hold a 5 man team. This is 22 player team not including sub packages andd special teams.
