Thank goodness! Let's not forget that the guy is only 26 and has what 53 sacks? Statistics are only part of Suggs' value. He's yet another Raven that opposing offenses have to game plan for

I have a dream. I have a dream that one day, Shawne Merriman will return HOME to don the purple-and-black, just like his former teammate Domonique Foxworth. And one day, "Lights Out" and T-Sizzle will work in tandem to produce the greatest double-team sack EVER on a quarterback. And on that day, the clouds will part, the skies will turn blue, the heavens will echo, and a man's brain will be scrambled. And then, and only then, will tears of joy stream down my eyes as I scream at the top of my lungs until a vein pops, leaving me with a mini-seizure and the happiest feeling I've ever felt in my life.

(In other words, I hope Shawne Merriman eventually comes to Baltimore as a free agent at a reasonable price to team with Terrell Suggs.)

I was tempted to start trying to coax Merriman on Twitter. Imagine that... good heavens...

eh-heh, I don't usually disagree with you, man. But I wouldn't want Merriman on this team because of his past steroids use. I'm not naive, I understand a fair amount of players use it, but I wouldn't want that kind of disrespect for the game and competition residing in Baltimore.

Suggs puts the deal down to compromise - wanting to stay and the Ravens wanting to keep him.

Suggs is "shocked" to become the highest paid LB in the league - was not his aim, "wanted a fair deal".

Flattered at being 2nd to Peyton on the $33 million next 2 seasons.

Suggs didn't mind franchise tag because he could remain a Raven, "wants to play in purple and black" - tag kept him here, "happy to have the deal done."

He's dropping his kids off at school also. Lol
He probably goes down into Ravens history as the msot paid players we have had.

What type of year do you guys see Suggs having this year?
truthfully 10-12 sacks and a pick i think he is going to become on of the most feared defensive players...qb's are going to want to throw to reed instead of holding it for suggs

I hope for a huge season! He sounds happy, so I think he will reward us all with some great play. I'll say 117 tackles, 15 sacks, 3 forced fumbles and 2 intercepts.

Welcome back T-Sizzle :) it's alot of money but as we all agree, he's young, he's the future and after the second year we get some big cap relieve to resign our other up and coming players. Now let's see if Ozzie can address our WR issue.

GO RAVENS

I'm interested to see whether we do actually pursue any free agent receivers.

That would be insane. I'm sure Baltimore would be at the top of his wish list if and when he becomes a free agent but the salary cap would never allow it. Although its still awhile away we need to remember that for years all our salary cap went to the defense but we're starting to spend more on offense now. If Flacco continues to play well he'll get his huge payday eventually. Not to mention all the guys we drafted recently (Gruggs, Oher, Rice, even Clayton) The timing isn't right but too back Merriman won't become a free agent in a few years when Ray retires. Its a different position but swapping Merriman for Ray would help soften the blow.

Wow talk about deja-vu. While I was sleeping I had a vision of tuning in to the radio and hearing "Terrel Suggs signs a 63M/6yr contract with the Ravens." I am just moonstruck how it's exactly the same that I saw in my dream lol. I'm freaked out, but at the same time, YAY! Talk about being relieved. I feel like a little kid again, going downstairs on Christmas (well I personally don't know the experience since I'm Jewish, but that's for you all to relate to how I feel).

Kazzaah! I don't care if people think we over-payed and if Ozzie got a little stressed out over Mason, cause WE have Suggs for alteast 6 years, so look out Broth-lisberger.

This deal had to get done, but at what cost? So much for building around the true centerpiece of our franchise (Joe Flacco)
