Steve Mcnair By The Numbers

8 posts in this topic

Some of this sounding a bit negative, even if it is true, and the numbers don't always tell the whole story. Otherwise, quite comprehensive and informative. Thanks for sharing.

I do believe Steve McNairs intangibles are more telling then his numbers, like playing hurt and his ability to lead. The guy had his chest wired back together and went back and played at a high level. I would not consider Manning as much as of an iron man as Favre. Manning seems to have always played behind a good line and not beat around as much as Favre and McNair.( though Manning impressed me last year playing through that knee)

That was a good read. Thanks for sharing.

McNair was a good quarterback, and a great leader, there's no doubt about it. But I have to admit I was frustrated with him in our 2006 season. You can talk all you want about the best record in Ravens history, but the truth is we had an amazing defensive unit that just needed someone on offense to not make mistakes. We had that with McNair, but when we needed an offense to score just 16 points, in the AFC Divisional Playoffs, at home, McNair couldn't do a thing.

Unfortunately, that's what I'll remember him for.

R.I.P Steve McNair

I remember the Ravens 2007 blow out loss to the Steelers on MNF. I remember seeing a close up of him on the sideline after he had thrown an int that got returned, and he just looked lost it was very sad. I pretty much knew that was the end of it for him. It was sad seeing a guy who was once so good not be able to drop back fast enough to avoid being sacked and when he did get the ball off he just couldn't put much on it. I do wish we could have won him a superbowl, he deserved it. This whole thing is so sad I still can't belive that im sitting here and remembering Steve Mcnair's time with us because he is dead :( :( :(

It really caught me by surprise when Steve retired after the 2007 season because I remember reading about how hard he was working and how he thought we were gonna be a great football team again. And he was right about that but it wasn't with him at quarterback.

i do believe that McNair's Truest and deepest impact didn't come on the football field playing, though he did have many memorable performances that i can think of. Yes he was a leader in the huddle with his teammates around him for support going down into enemy territory but in do respect. T

he man was more respected for known for his off the field acts in which he often times could be found leading the younger generation towards a brighter future and ultimately a better tomorrow....McNair's true talent was being a leader, but not just on the football field, a leader off the field in which many came to follow and learn from. Leading /teaching those less fortunate to always do the right thing, stay the course and never stray far (if at all) from the path of doing right.

It might have been a really good thing that he did retire. What if the FO had decided they could wait another year before drafting a quarterback?
