Steve Mcnair's Untimely Death

Yeah I def see the Ravens and the Titans, if not the whole league, wearing a special patch. And Blood Raven, lets wait at least a day until we start accusing anybody of anything.

Man, McNair was physically and mentally one of the toughest QB's to ever play the game. He had that "it" you want from your leader in the fourth quarter.

Steve played through injuries that should've put him in a wheelchair. He had no business suiting up that playoff game against us in '03, yet went in and beat the Ravens in our house. He was a tough, hard worker, but with none of the arrogance of overachievers.

Steve was just the kind of guy you'd like to meet in person, and just the kind of player that makes football so great.

To me, it doesn't really matter how he died today. I'll honor his memory and let the facts sort themselves out.

Im hearing everything from murder to murder suicide.
Sounds like murder suicide. We wont know for sure until they determine time of death.

worst 4th of july ever...

I was at work, and had the idea to go to nfl.com on my phone, and there i saw the report of steve mcnair and another woman being shot

from what I hear about how both mcnair and whoever the other woman is,it sounds more like a hit than anything else... I'm no investigator, and i didn't hear this from anywhere... but that would be my opinion

damn, everytime I think about losing the people who do good in this world, it makes me feel very sad, I will proudly wear my #9 jersey in support of Steve Mcnair, tommorow, and every 4th of July from here on out

but,

Let us not remember how he died, but how he lived...

To the memories of Steve "Air" Mcnair, the good, the bad, and the inbetween

He will be dearly missed

P.S.
I don't mean to be out of line here.... but it kind of has me wondering who's next :(

It seems obvious it was a murder-suicide, at least to me. He was shot multiple times, once in the head and she was shot once in the head...

I'm a little disappointed that he would be cheating on his wife, too...

I was thinking the same thing. I will wait untill all of the facts are on the table, but from what i have heard so far, everything about the event was shady.

There's more information coming out, slowly but surely. Appears Steve was shot numerous times to the chest and once to the head. The woman (now identified) had a single gun shot to her head and the gun was laid more than 10 feet from her body. They're unsure of whether he was sleeping or slumped over in the couch when he died. The autopsy is scheduled for today.

A terrible tragedy, no doubt. It will be interesting to see what comes out in the end, but it's not looking good for a guy we all thought was a truly good man.
I agree.

Regardless of whether he committed adultery, we all know the man wasn't a saint. No one is. But we loved him for what he did on the field, and admired him for what he did off it. He was as good of a man as you'd want him to be in public, and what he did behind closed doors was (and is) irrelevant to us.

Both on and off the field, everything he did was unselfish. Sure, he had a competitive drive that sometimes clouded his judgment, but at the end of the day, he played through pain because he didn't want to disappoint his teammates who thought so much of him. He wanted to be the guy to make everyone happy. He always wanted to send the fans home happy with a win, and he always wanted to lift his teammates' spirit with his guts and determination. He sacrificed so much of himself physically for us fans and his teammates, and so much of himself emotionally for his family. He truly loved his kids; there'd be no other reason why he spoke so glowingly of returning home to them upon retirement. You could hear it in his voice during his retirement speech, how it pained him that he couldn't be the father he wanted to be for them during the season. That's all the proof I need for his character.

But then, the man didn't just stop there. He filled something like 20 tractor-trailers with supplies in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. He was a part of community initiatives in Baltimore, and he was an active figure in his home state of Mississippi. He was so beloved in his playing days with the Titans that he's considered a surrogate son of Nashville, and still frequented the city. There's not many other players who would get a standing ovation at the beginning of a game upon his return to his old team, after leaving for a former rival.

People loved Steve McNair. We loved Steve McNair. That kind of love at a distance for an athlete is difficult to reciprocate -- yet, he managed to give back through his play and his charity. I could care less what he may have done in his private life, because all that matters to me is that I have one less hero in the world today. I have one less person to look up to and model myself after. All I have left are memories that, albeit short, are very fond. All I have left is the weight in my heart, knowing that a good man was taken, as so many good men are daily that never get acknowledged.

All I have left is the love that Steve McNair gave back to me, when he gave me something to cheer about (and someone to cheer for) on Sundays for that one remarkable season.

I'm glad he didn't pull a Benoit like the initial reports said.

You were a warrior and deserved better than how the Titans treated you in 06.

At this point, I don't know what Jeff Fisher is going to say...He drafted this QB in the first round and he lived up to expectation...McNair was a HOF Qb and will be remembered for not only his work on and off the field but working with other players like Eddie George,Todd Heap, Mason, V Young and many more...

McNair was an inspiration on and off the field. He was a leader to rookies and veterans alike. Steve McNair will be missed.

I send my condolences to my fellow Ravens fans, to the Titans fans, and especially to Steve's friends and family. The saddest part of the rumors surrounding his death is how they will hurt his family and maybe even mar their memory of him, but I hope that they focus on the good memories and what a strong and solid man he was in his dealings with others.

Rest in peace, Steve McNair.

Live in strength and integrity, to those left behind.

The initial reports suggested that his wife commited the murder-suicide (or 'a Benoit'), not Steve.

Well, to start with, having a woman in your house that isn't your wife isn't it a crime, nor is it adulterous.
Secondly, for all we know, McNair and his wife only remained married for their children. They may have agreed to see other people privately. We don't know anything really at this point, so I think the respectful thing to do would be keep the snide comments to yourself until you actually know what happened.

From everything that I've gathered so far, he was cheating on his wife. Now him and his wife could have had an agreement and just staying together for the kids, that's true. That does happen but we'll have to see.

Oh and in reply to your first sentence, no it isn't a 'crime' but it is, IMO, inappropriate. Something was going on between them. He was seen going to the condo 1:30ish in the morning and her vehicle was already there (a vehicle registered to both her and Steve BTW). What do you think they were doing? The chances of him taking her in because she was homeless or something like that is slim.

Either way, I'm sorry to hear about this unfortunate event. RIP

I'm not entirely sure about this, but wasn't it more of the titans kicking him out instead of him leaving... all i knoow about it was he went to workout one day and they told him he wasn't allowed too.... thus leading him to sign with us... thats the way i heard it anyway.. and i know this isn't the time nor place to debate it.

and for the second part, just because he has passed away doesn't mean you can't still model yourself to the way he lived, just because he died doesn't mean you lost a person you look up too, he lived his life, and did his good, you can still model yourself after what he has done

damn, everytime i read this topic i start feeling numb :/ R.I.P Steve McNair

saw this on a titans message board

I'm not a cop but the exboyfriends friend myspace page is something to investigate.
He posted this 2 days ago. I assume morning after or night of DUI arrest.

http://www.myspace.com/postedinthaoch
That is crazy. For those who haven't clicked. His status message was created 7/2 and reads:
The Caucasian Persuasion riden with keith. ****** a quarterback. who is Mcnair in 09? rip sahel kazemi
So, two days before her death he's saying "rip sahel kazemi"?
myspace page has been taken down, but if theres any truth to this then wowwww
