I'm at a loss for words. I'm still trying to find out what exactly happened. Even though i didn't want him to retire, i was happy that he could spend time with his kids like he always wanted.

I've talked about how McNair was my favorite QB since i started watching football. I was a Ravens fan, but i loved watching Titans games just because McNair was so exciting to watch, even against the Ravens. Everytime his team was down, he would always fight his way in the last few mins to win the games. It was just a dream come true when he became a Raven, something you think could ever happen. Then as a Raven, he lead us to our best record in franchise history at 13-3. Broke a couple Ravens Records along the way, and even saved Billick from getting fired for a year. One of my favorite games were when we were playing the Chargers, and it seemed like we were going to lose. Then classic McNair brought us back all the way down the field and ended the game with a touchdown pass to Todd Heap. He won't even live to see if he will make the HOF, which he should. QBs don't die everyday, and I am really sad that of all of them, my favorite one had to be the one today.

Hey Raven fans,
I wanted to stop by and offer my support for you guys at this difficult time. Our teams are bitter rivals, but some things are more important than football. You too are part of the family of Mac9 fans and I'm sure you feel the loss as deeply as we do here in Nashville. To say our community is stunned is an understatement. For once Titans and Ravens fans are 100% on the same page when we say our hearts are broken for the loss of this man whose talent, heart, grit, and genuiness off the field touched us all.

McNair is easily the most beloved athlete in our city's relatively short professional sports history. He was the face of this franchise for years. While the talking heads will inevitably debate the merits of whether to include him in the Hall of Fame or not, he's already a Hall of Famer in the hearts of those who had the pleasure of watching him in action. He was a true gridiron warrior who played the game without thought to his own body. He was a true throwback to an era long gone.

God bless the McNair family, his friends, and fans everywhere of the two organizations he played for. If you wish to keep up with the latest breaking news out of Nashville, here are the best links -

Edit - Also for those who are interested the Titans forum is no longer active after a site redesign. However the old Titans Message board posters staretd our own group at titanstailgate.com. A lot of the information there is coming in in real-time.

Steve McNair is a the only Legendary Qb we have ever had....
Joe Flacco has time to build his name but he has the ability to become the legend of Baltimore...So far these guys are the only two guys that created a name for themselves in the NFL and in Baltimore...I was hoping that we could have another Steve McNair Prep Rally in Baltimore next year and I'm sadden by the lose for the whole NFL.....

It's been confirmed that it wasn't Steves wife who was found dead with him.

The police are also ruling out a murder-suicide!

No, Steve's wife is in Mississippi.

I know, that's why I said it wasn't her, someone in the thread said it was so I was confirming it wasn't.

"Sources" in Tennessee are saying he was threatened in a restaurant last night!

I've been a lurker on these boards for several years now. The news of McNair's death has prompted me to finally post. It is just so tragic and shocking. I feel so incredibly bad for his family, friends, teammates and the fans of the Titans and the Ravens. I remember when McNair first became a Raven, God, I was so excited! He didn't disappoint. His is the only jersey that I own that isn't a #52. He seemed like such a good man, with a good heart. My thought and prayers go out to his family, especially those four little boys.

Omg I'm so sad about this. Steve McNair was one of my favorite players on and off the field. He was a great player, and was always a class act off the field.

My thoughts and prayers are with his family, especially his 4 kids. It's so horrible for a kid to lose his dad, this is just a tragedy.

Based on recent reports it doesnt sound like murder-suicide has been completely ruled out. It sounds to me like Mac had been shot, someone called the cops, realized he had passed and decided they didnt want to face the consequences. Its all speculation, we wont know until the autopsy is done and they determine t.o.d. for each of them.

McNair brought respectability to the QB position in Baltimore and was a leader we needed in 06. I is almost a shame he got injured I would have loved to see how he would have played in our new system. Just absolutely terrible what happen to him.

Wow. Steve always seemed to me like a class act on and off the field, and I always appreciate the sucess he had in the 2006 season, but nevermind football. We all need to realize that its the loss of a human life, and I wish his family all the best

This is such a shock. It is always terrible when someone leaves us too early. The focus now should not be on how he died and the events surrounding his death. Please focus on the fond memories he gave us as football fans and focus on his poor boys and wife whom have been left in a dark place with nothing but questions. No one should ever have to feel the way thay feel.

That being said.... I have a wierd story. My buddy owed me money(like $300). He has a side raquet buying and selling jerseys on E-Bay. Long story short I wasnt gonna get my cash and he had a game used signed McNair Ravens jersey he was saving so he gladly just traded his debt for it. Im glad i have it because it will be a loved and apprecieated. sorry about any spelling error, Im drunk

hey guys, within a couple of years witnessing the Eddie Guerrero, Chris benoit, and sean taylor, darrent williams, and corey smith, marques cooper deaths, I had a big feeling deep in my stomach about a month ago that there would soon be another pro athlete tragedy. When i saw the sean taylor death, i thought what if that was a raven that we have all known to love. Now i know what it feels like. This was shocking and unexpected.

I wonder if the Ravens are going to do anything to honor him. I could see Tenn. retiring his number or something. What do you guys think we will do or should do?
Even though the knee-jerk reaction would be to put him in the Ravens Ring of Honor, I don't see anything much done in honor of him. He was a great member of the Ravens organization, but his time in Baltimore was too short to consider giving him special consideration like retiring his jersey or inducting him in the RoH.

Instead, I can see a special #9 uniform patch/helmet decal used this coming season for both the Titans and Ravens. And I can see Derrick Mason and Samari Rolle dedicating this upcoming season to Steve McNair's memory.
