The Year _____ Becomes A Force In This League

29 posts in this topic

So i was reading a magazine today and it was just after the ravens 13-3 season B) in 2006. I was reading the little snipets about each player on every team and i read Fabian Washington's one on the Raiders. It said something like "he is headed for a Pro Bowl this year"

I am huge on fabs and think he was lockdown against every reciever last year except for Justin Gage. I think this guy could really certify himself as a Pro Bowler. He matched up against a lot of great WR last year and i think only allowed 2 Touchdowns one of which he tripped. So i truly believe that he is due to make the pro bowl. He would of worked on his concentraion over the off season which will allows his PD's to turn into interceptions. I expect Fabian to get about 6 interceptions this year and establish himslef as a Pro Bowler who is one of the leagues best corners.

I also believe this is the year Haloti Ngata makes the Pro Bowl. There is nothing neccessary to write here as we all know he got robbed last year as he was better than both Rogers and Jenkins last year. After re wathcing the AFCCG Ngata was a monster agaisnt the run as always and surprised me the way he rushed the passer. He had a sack in that game and about 5 pressures. He was eating up blockers in running plays and seemed to be easily shruging of blocks on passing plays. He was using the swim move to great effect and i think this year he becomes an Albert haynesworth type presence on passing downs. He will command doubles on passing downs due to his swim move that destroyed every Steeler last year. He really stepped it up that game and i expect him to have a huge season with about 7 sacks and of course another interception ;)

Now i dont think this player becomes a force in this league this year but i do believe this year he will emerge as another gem found by ozzie and become a starter in this league by next year. His name is Lamar Divens and he is a monster, the big monster that ozzie signed after pre season last year terrorised other teams offensive lines last year for SD and the fans where distraught after they cut him. He played in a few games last year and every time he was on the field havoc was caused. Every time he was on there and the other team tried to run divens just collapased the line and he did it more than once. He is a beast and i expect him to start by next year for Gregg, and considering Gregg is a beast that is saying how much i love Divens. I think by next year with Divens and Ngata on the d-line no team will run on us and we have a very youthful front which is what we currently dont have. Ngata, Divens and Kruger will be a great front for many years to come. I love divens and after this year you will too.

thoughts? and please post who you think this year will emerge as a force in the league and one of the best at there position

I think this year we'll see several guys emerge as a force at their position.

First, I expect Gaither to elevate himself to the top 5 at LT.
I think that Flacco's QB rating will rank in the top 8-10.
Gooden will prove to be a stud, but not make the Pro Bowl.
Finally, I agree with Ngata making the Pro Bowl, but I dont think that really counts as emerging since I personally think he's in the top 3 already, and arguably even the best, at DT.

I think this is the year that we send 3 of our secondary to the Pro Bowl (either starting or alternate) whether it be:

Reed, Landry, Fab
Fab,Fox,Reed
Reed, Landry, Fox

So basically I think our secondary is going to be a force.

Is that towards me?I thought you were talking about players from around the league.
On our team it's going to be Mark Clayton,he's a beast waiting to be awakened and I think Flacco will look more his way next year.

I think Ray Rice will be a force to be reckoned with.
Joe Flacco will probably surprise everyone and put up some good numbers.
Haloti Ngata should definitely be a starting Pro-bowler.

I agree 100% with Fabian and Ngata. I think they are both in line for great seasons.

I really liked what i saw from Brandon McKinney last season. He was strong at the point of attack and i expect him to fill in well as one of the top backups this year. Wouldn't label him as a breakout canidiate but i think he will perfrom well. The Ravens also signed him to a 3 year deal.

A player i would add to the list would be Dawan Landry. I think Landry was really starting to come into his own after the 07 season. By all accounts he had a great camp and he played well before the week 3 injury. I think Landry could be one of the better safeties in the league. He supports the run really well and also does well defending the pass. I'm lookin for Landry to have a big year.

Another guy i would add to the list is Jared Gaither. He has been a bright spot for the Ravens oline since taking over for JO. No one really expected this kid to come in and make JO's retire a non factor but he has. Gaither has been a pleasant surprise the last 2 season, shutting down some of the games best pass rushers. See the Ravens @ Cowboys game tomorrow on NFL Network to see him perform against DeMarcus Ware. With 1 full season and 3 full offseasons under his belt, i look for Gaither to take his place as one of the dominate young LTs in the league this year. Gaither was credited for giving up 2 sacks and 1 QB hit last season; the biggest thing i think Gaither needs to improve on is his penalties. Other then that i feel Gaither has what it takes to be elite and i think he will showcase this season.

I agree about gooden.
Ngata will not make the probowl because there are more well known DT in the league.

Why did Divens get cut? Because if he was as good as your hyping him, then the chargers are idiots.

Clayton at wide receiver, Gooden at LB, Landry is going to have a great year, Fabian and Foxworth have a solid year. I don't expect Fabian and Foxworth to make the pro bowl, but if they lock down our secondary then i don't care.

Ngata will be great, he should have made the pro bowl last year but the stupid votes are conducted before the end of the year. I would have said Marshall Yanda but he messed up his knee. So next year when he is 100% i will pick him.

I just have a tough time believing the Chargers would cut him if he really was as good as you are saying he is. And i haven't heard anything about him. Maybe he can replace Douglas. That would be good

If we cut Brendon i think Zibby will lead the team in ST Takles with Nak coming in second. Fab will increase his INT total while Ed "Out Standing Speed" Reed take his career high To 14 INTs.Tavares Gooden will make a living on chasing down Wideouts only to place second in takles this year. All in All our D becomes a stronger force this year passing the Game Stealers for No.1 D while leading the league in takeaways again.

why would we cut him, we just signed him last year.... and he was the guy the ravens were after last year as well

I have a feeling, that we're gonna get more than we expected with marcus smith.... only thing is idk if it will be w/in this next year, or when mason leaves

and as of this year who has a break out year, i'd say zbikowski, Landry will be healed, but after the hit he took, i could see him going down again, throwing tommy z into his spot for the time landry would be out

Who do I think will become a force in the league this year?

The officials. They're a force in the league EVERY year. If there is a way to cheat the Ravens, they will find it!

And as for the person who said the guy from the Chargers couldn't be that good if they were willing to cut him...

The Ravens cut James Harrison twice, and he became the defensive player of the year last year. The Ravens also released Priest Holmes... and he had one of the best seasons of a running back ever, and absolutely destroyed the Ravens on Monday Night Football. Just saying... this guy from the Chargers could easily be as good as the other poster was indicating. Only one way to find out!

Honestly I think that Ngata will have that Pro Bowl season this year. He is so underrated around the league. But I gotta feeling this year he'll get recognized as one of the best(if not the best) DT in the league.

That would be awesome, I think Ed Reed would tie or break the record held for Interceptions in a single season if he gets 14. I'll say Reed gets 12 Interceptions for the Season, with 3-5 returned for TDs.

I agree with everybody else and says Ngata will 100% become a force, but I'm not sure if its at DT, with Gregg coming back, wouldn't we have Ngata move back to RE?

True. I don't know why Rogers gets more hypes still, the Browns are terrible. Hampton does a good job for Pittsburgh, but Ngata is a beast. He's young though; his time in the spotlight will come.
