In all fairness, Palmer was hurt even during those games. He just kept putting off the elbow surgery. But other than that i completely agree with you.

But you have to concider that Palmer ,Chad and tj have been together for years and still with all that time trying to get it right they haven't and that's the question to me that needs to be answer why?? why haven't they won more games, title they have been working togheter for years??

What does getting it right mean? Because when Palmer has been healthy he has put up very good numbers. So wouldn't that classify as "getting it right"? Especially with a poor running game and poor defense. That's why he hasn't won more games. To be a good team, you need to be good on both sides of the ball. Palmer and the passing offense have done their job for the most part but it doesn't matter how many points you put up if you can't stop anyone.

The Bengals have a pretty decent team and the ability to be a wildcard, but the fact their QB is coming off a season ending injury and the fact they have a BRUTAL season stretch... I think they'll come out with a 7-9 record.

take a quick look at their depth chart on the offensive line and you might lower your expectations from 7 wins. that line will seriously make the steelers line look stellar, so carson may be out for a different reason next year...

Ouch, I took a look- nice call. 6 guards, 3 tackles, 3 centers. Most of their offensive line only has 2 years experience or less. YET... they have 11 wr's, 9 rb's, 11 linebackers? Jeese...

They loose a starting guard or tackle and they're in HORRIBLE shape....

yeah, but look at who their starters are too...it's a mess. andre smith will be a good RT, but other than that i don't see very much talent overall on that line (or their d-line for that matter). our mantra of building in the trenches will look even better after the bungles suck this year again.

Wow.

The Steelers beat the Ravens three times, and won the Super Bowl.

The Bengals were 4-11-1, and were #32 in Offensive scoring and Offensive yards...

The Steelers were #1 in Points Allowed and Yards Allowed.

The Bengals were #12 in Points Allowed and #19 in Yards Allowed.

Your statement reminds me of the Preseason pick last summer - everyone picked the Browns to win the AFC North, because they were 10-6 in 2007. As usual, the Ravens and the Steelers fought it out for the division, and the Ohio teams finished far behind.

I don't see any reason for that to change - barring a major injury to Flacco, Lewis and/or Reed... and to Roethlisberger.

Games aren't won on paper.

You my friend obviously has never played paper football! LOL!

But they've only made the playoffs, ONE time and have gotten consistantly worse since then. They havent done enough to win. Bengals fans like to throw out that "our defense is holding us back", but thats b.s. Peyton Manning, Marvin Harrison, and Reggie Wayne were able to get it done without a good defense. They didnt go deep into the playoffs but they contended every year. Carson Palmer doesnt have that same resume.

To make it even worse one of those 3 tackles- the one thats going to start at LT no less, has never played T in the NFL. He was a guard last year.

I guess that's why we play the games, right? We'll see who's better once the clock reads 0:00...

Funny thing is their D had been the only thing improving the last 2 years while the O has gotten considerably worse.

I think you are giving them too much credit in having the abiblity to be a wildcard. This isn't the "nine wins and your in" NFC. If they could even be counted on to have a winning season, which they can't, they would still have to compete with us, the Titans (or Colts) and the Phins (or Jets). Do you remember how last year an 11-5 team had to stay home? The Bungles wouldn't stand a chance.

Hell - Miami went 10-6 in 2003 and didn't make the WildCard.
[/quote]
And 11-5 New England didn't make it last year...

A good thing, of course - I hate me some Pats... :P

I never said they'd make the Wildcard round, I said they have the ability to BE A wildcard team. Not as in a playoff game, but to surprise people.

IE: I predict 7-9, but they could be a wildcard (not wildcard playoff) and be an 11-5 team.

I guess I should have used the word "surprise" instead of "wildcard".

:P

The media has just chosen the Bengals as one of their sleepers, so that is why they are getting hype. They've been listening to OchoPsycho run his mouth about the playoffs, forgetting that in June optimism is prevalent in ALL 32 NFL cities.

I still see lots of problems with that team, especially in their running game. If Palmer stays healthy all season and their defense is more consistent, they could make a push, but they are not finishing ahead of us or the Steelers in the division. As it is, i see them finishing around .500. Cheer up Bungles fans, at least you won't finish 4-12 or 5-11 like the Browns will.

You know what this all started even before Johnson started running his mouth. During the AFC Championship game pre-game show Cowher said that he looked for them to make the playoffs next year. Ever since then all the media has been on the bandwagon like Cowher knows all. Isnt he the same guy that said we would lose to the Dolphins because they just didnt turn the ball over? Yup, Cowher knows all.

Yes the Bungles have added some good players this offseason, but I'm going to wait until the preseason to make predictions about record, playoffs, and so on. These are still bungles, and in this division you have to be able to run and stop the run. OchoCinco can run his mouth all he wants but at the end of the day it probably won't amount to a hill of beans.
