Ray Rice

I just got done watching the video on the main page with Flacco and Rice at the kids camp. I'm sure it's been said, but Rice just seems like a great kid, a real character guy. I'm glad he is a Raven, even if he is only about a foot taller than those grade-school kids  Great pick up Ozzie.

He seems like a quality guy. And he seems to know where the yellow line is on 3rd down. He is going to be fun to watch this year.

I think Ray Rice could have a huge year as that chance of pace type of back to McGahee. Now i do think that Rice will be much more then a change a pace guy and third down guy.

It will be fun to watch Ray Rice on screens and option routes vs LBs. If the Ravens can stay healthy, guys like Heap, LJ, Dwill, Clayton, and Mason will spread the field wide and allow Rice to work underneath, he'll have some big recieving numbers for a RB.

Rice had 33 recs last season and he missed like 3 or 4 games, so i definately think he will put up bigger numbers this year. I think he will be a big weapon for this team and add those highligh reel plays.

He looks like a monster too... 5'9" 205 lbs. Watch out DBs!!

Haha, what?
I hope that was a joke, Rice will be running around defenders, not through them.

No joke... Ray said it himself on the tour he gave on NFL Total Access. He wants to truck people.

I think Ray having the option to truck DBs will actually allow him to aviod them more often. Having the DB not knowing if Rice wants to truck him or juke him, will keep the defender on his heels.

Ray also showed a nice little stiff arm last season so that only adds to his ability to break free from the defense.

Pop quiz: how many times did we hear the announcers say "Ray Rice the rookie from Rutgers who runs for the Ravens."?

I think the smurf is going to have a breakout year.

I can't wait to see what Rice does this year. I think he can do what Steve Slaton did last year if given the touches.

A built 205lbs with a low centre of gravity. I think he's more than capable of knocking DBs on their butt!!

I think most people underestimate him because of his height but he's a strong guy!

Think Mojo Drew and Brian Westbrook combined.

I honestly think Rice will be our number one back eventually. He has shown all the qualities of a starting NFL back. Speed, elusiveness, strength, will, and durability.

Whoa, pump the breaks man. I'm not dissin on Ray but he is not a westbrook/mojo man child. I think Ray Rice will be fine but these guys tore it up their rookie years and are premier backs in the league. You wanna compare them to a guy that hasnt even touched pay dirt yet. Mojo's rookie season was amazing!

I've been watching Ray since High School (live near by). Ray was All State (NY) defensive back and did not become featured running back until senior year. In fact, most colleges that offered Ray a scholarship (not that many but Penn St and Syracuse were a couple) for DB and not RB.

Ray always said he likes to run with the attitude of a defensive player. Ray likes to punish people. He might be short but his calves as bigger than most defensive lineman (minus the fat). Ray can hit guys in the shins like a fire hydrant. Ray causes more pain to defenders than a 6' 225lb back. He can seem to run a foot off the ground for his last couple yards and that hurts if your 6'3" and trying to stop him. Ray gets his yards up the middle as well as outside. I expect bug things from Ray this year.

durability?.. i wouldnt say that just yet.. hes only played one year in the NFL and didnt play due to injury for like 4 weeks.. i know he was extremely durable in college, but someday all those carries will catch up to him.. i cant wait to see what kind of numbers Rice puts up this year. he's a great back, and a lot of fun to watch

I think Ray's gonna have a good year. He's looking huge, so he must have dropped a good amount of fat if he's only gained 5 pounds. Hopefully he'll mantain his speed and quickness.

I wasn't saying he will be a combination of them stat wise, but playing style wise.

rice didnt get near the carrys that he should have and even when he was healthy and back in the game we didnt use him so dont try and down play him like he doesnt play hard. im excited for this season because i see rice, m. smith, and washington having a break out year. i see ngata finally making the pro bowl and reed setting the new record for int in a season and landry stays healthy. i know this is alot to say right now not knowing whats going to happen but i have confindence in what type of players i see on our team.

I think you're overestimating Marcus Smith and Washington. They just aren't going to get that many looks, considering we dont throw the ball that much to begin with and they are 3 and 4 on the depth chart. But other than that i agree with what you're saying.

Ray Rice did work his butt off. We need to stop using Leron as a RB and have like a Fred Taylor/Maurice Jones Drew, Chester Taylor/AP, DeAngelo Williams/Jon Stewart (not the anchorman) type of attack. I mean even in Jaguars offense, Greg Jones the full back still got that ball on certain carries on certain spots and I defintely think we should utilize Le'ron on that but like I have been saying, lets leave the rushing to the naturals.

If the man can get yards and td's then i dont care if he is naturally a linemen, then i want him to have the ball.

Yeah but 2 guys can do it better. I appreciate what LeRon did for the team last year but he was still running behind Lo Neal. He will not even come close to having as many touches as last year but I think he will still get the goalline carries and can see an even bigger mcmansion package with Ngata at TE and JJ as FB to pave the way.

No one did it better than McClain last year on the Ravens. Lets put Edgar Jones back there at fullback like you said. McClain is too good of a running back to not use.
