Some Potential Free Agent Wr's After This Year

30 posts in this topic

theres been all kinds of talk about boldin and marshall, but i cant see us trading for either before this upcoming season, so i was curious to see some of the potential FA's after this year because unfortuantely our top 3 receivers on the depth chart: D. Mason, M. Clayton, and D. Williams are on this list, so we gotta' do something eventually...

^not positive on the credibility of the source***
some guys that will draw interest if they arent re-signed before hand:

Antonio Bryant
Chris Chambers
Braylon Edwards
Lee Evans (?.. thought he signed a 4 year deal in '07 for like 35 mil)
Larry Fitzgerald (i thought he was signed through 2011, but a couple different sites had him listed as a FA after 2010)
Vincent Jackson
Greg Jennings
Brandon Marshall
Roddy White
Terrell Owens

note: i know most of these guys will be either franchised or signed to long term deals, but its just a list as of now..
can you see Oz going after any of these guys, or any other FA WR's after this season?

Those are the only 3 I think would realistically hit the free agency at a reasonably price tag. I doubt Braylon Edwards or Marshall will be traded and Edwards will bounce back this year. TO is declining and nobody in their right mind would want him here and Chris Chambers might be a little too old considering our current youth movement and faith in 36yo Mason. Antonio Bryant would be the best option (I bolded Bryant because I think the passing game in TB is going to crash and burn this season)

GMs would be fired if guys like Lee Evans, Larry Fitzgerald, Greg Jennings, or Roddy White hit the free agent market. They're some of the best, young, CLEAN talent that this league has

Out of that list, i can really see all getting the franchise tag, except TO and maybe Edwards unless he has a big season

Oh wow, but that's what you pay for an all-around great WR like Fitz.

I'm not really sure how accurate that website is - they have Ben Roethlisberger as a free agent next year, and he's signed through 2015...

I'm pretty sure the Cardinals will keep him over Boldin,he's younger but he might demand a slightly higher contract than he has now.

Boldin will go somewhere or breaston will because they still have Early Doucet who they drafted in the first round last season I do believe.

Also Greg Jennings is in contract extension talks already.

haha.. i wish it was, but im saying hypothetically from just the money standpoint.. its not that far-fetched to think both boldin and marshall will make about 8.5 mil/year when they eventually sign a new contract, which would be half of what fitzgerald is due. no question, if it were at all possible to pick one of the three to have on your team i think the obvious answer would be fitz, but i'd also rather have boldin & marshall, rather than just fitz.. strictly hypothetical

Yeah, I get that. But you do understand that this $17 million monstrosity is most likely an accumulation of bonuses within the structure of his contract, he won't be getting that same kind of money every single year. The same goes for Marshall and Boldin, any deals they sign most likely will not pay them $8.5 million flat for x amount of years, they get bonuses, too.

i completely understand that, but the point i was trying to make is that 17 mil, incentives or not, is kind of ridiculous IMO

Hey guys, I found a site that is pretty more accurate. I'll post the link below, but it has a list of Free Agents, listed by team, so you can see when a guy like Big Ben would be a free agent which is 2016. I can also confirm the Ravens will have 21 Players, 9 or 10 of them will be starters.
I'll post the link that directly takes you to the Baltimore Ravens player by player when they hit the Free Agency Market. From there, there is a scroll at the top and you can look at other teams.

Lol do the Cardinals have Kelley Washington's identical twin? For both the Ravens and Cardinals, they have Kelley Washington signed to 2010 (well becoming a free agent March 1, 2010) and both are 30 years old. LOL... did Kelley sign a contract with another team and we didn't know about it? I thought he was with the Patriots...not the Cardinals lol
