The Ultimate Madden Draft

9 posts in this topic

Decided to start a new franchise with the Ravens- released quite a few players and decided to start a rebuilding process. Simmed the first season so I could start my franchise with the draft...

My draft:

1st - CB: 6'4", 212 lbs, runs a 4.26

1st - SS: 6'1", 205 lbs, runs a 4.29

1st - LOLB: 6'2", 247 lbs, runs a 4.41

2nd - WR: 6'5", 221 lbs, runs a 4.31

3rd - TE: 6'7", 271 lbs, runs a 4.59

3rd - RT: 6'6", 361 lbs, runs a 4.89

4th - DT: 6'4", 331 lbs, runs a 4.99

I saved and simmed the season after the draft picks just for fun... placed all the rookies as starters to see what's happen...

1st - CB: 57 tackles, 55 solo, 11 interceptions

1st - SS: 91 tackles, 72 solo, 9 interceptions, 6 sacks

1st - LOLB: 87 tackles, 68 solo, 2 interceptions, 18 sacks

2nd - WR: 81 rec, 1281 yards, 9 td's

3rd - TE: 61 rec, 711 yards, 7 td's

------------

Quite the draft

So, speed/size was all you focused on? That's why Madden isn't real life. Otherwised the raiders and the Cahrges would be unstopable!

No, I didn't focus on speed, I just didn't write down any of their other stats, haha. But, speed determines which player is better 99% of the time.

With Madden unless you stick your rookie behind someone who is a 90+ they won't really get any better. So if your rookie is within 5 points of your starter, make the rookie the starter. My only gripe with madden is players will BARELY get better if you play the game yourself. If you sim it players ratings will go through the roof.

Madden really needs to make a lot of changes, especially with the defense ai. I ran essentially the same play 4/5 times against a team in the superbowl because they never defended the play. NEVER. I'd have my slot receiver run a cross route from left to right then scramble out of the pocket and follow the receiver to the right until he was over the line of scrim and pass the pass with full power so it went in front of the receiver instead of hitting him in the chest.

12-15 yards each time, every time. With maybe 1 deflected pass. Williams caught 27 passes for 298 yards in a game using the SAME play. It's stupid and takes away from the realism.

Another defense ai problem is a qb scramble. Set your play up for a "hail mary" or essentially send every receiver deep down field but do it in shotgun. This opens up the secondary on either side. Hike the ball, scramble left or right and it's 5-8 yards minimum.

How on earth did you get 18 sacks? I can barely get 12 with Demarcus Ware playing LE (yes left side is easier) in a 4-3.

Imagine if we had a draft like that! :P

speaking of the "ultimate draft," we should get 32 members of the forum and do an 11 round draft on the forums, and see who comes up with the best offense
