Ravens Drafted In The Ufl

13 posts in this topic

I just saw this and thought some of you might be interested. Gary Stills and BJ Sams were drafted in the UFL last night. There are actually a lot of former NFL players playing in the league (Adam Archuleta, Jermaine Wiggins, LeBrandon Toefield, Cecil Sapp, Brooks Bollinger, JP Losman, etc). Denzel Washington's son , John David Washington also got drafted. Supposedly there were reserved players that were not in the draft that the league will announce July 1 (JP Losman and most of the starting QBs will be anounced then) If the games were played during the NFL offseason, I would actually check them out. I am dying for some football!!!

You forgot to mention Brian Rimpf, he played Guard for us a couple years ago. Femi Ayanbadejo also played for us (FB) from 2000-2002 i believe.

Oh yeah I forgot about Obefemi, but I didn't know about Brian Rimpf. Did he actually play? The other 3 guys made some good contributions.

Yeah, he started a couple games for us around 2006 or so. He was one of Billick's favorites (guys that can't play). :D
I doubt any of those players will sign, its almost humiliating.
If they want another chance to get back into the NFL, they will play. I don't think it would be humiliating. It is going to be the developmental league for the NFL just like NFL Europe was. There is no shame in working hard to get to where you want to go. These guys will get to play football instead of stand on the sidelines for NFL teams.

A bad day of playing football is still better than a good day of working at some job you hate.

If this gets you to your ultimate goal of playing in the NFL what could be humiliating about that? The best quote from any punk rock song ever is from the Butthole Surfers song Sweet Loaf, "Well son, the funny thing about regret is, It's better to regret something you have done, Than to regret something you haven't done." If the UFL drafts somebody and they are too proud to play for them, twenty years later they will regret not having at least tried to see if they had what it takes, especially if the UFL takes off.

Look at O.J. Brigance. If he was too proud to play for the upstart CFL Baltimore Stallions he wouldn't have the honor of being the only player ever to win 2 professional football championships (83rd Grey Cup and Super Bowl XXXV) with 2 different teams (Stallions and Ravens) from 2 different leagues (CFL and NFL) in one city.
Look at where Kurt Warner was before the NFL.
Kurt Warner Kurt Warner, thats all I heard when I was playing Arena. All these UFL, Arena, Arena 2, CFL etc etc are the most delusional guys you will ever meet.

Dont forget that there could be a lockout in the NFL. IMO, the UFL is getting started up right on time and it wouldnt surprise me to see, more NFL players give them a try during that time.
