Mcnair?

42 posts in this topic

I'm a little annoyed with the decision to start McNair on Sunday. In the opening game McNair showed no improvement from the end of last year. He looked lost on the field, just as he did in the playoffs against Indy. After his injury Boller came in and brought us back (and let's face it, he WON that game if it wasn't for a terrible offensive interference call. So Boller starts last week, and again performs well. I've never seen him actually have control, yet against the Jets, he was in control. It was obvious to see a different Boller then we've seen before. So honestly, why don't we let him take the helm against the Cardinals? Why not give McNair one more week to rest? Maybe get some more practice time and become the solid quarterback he was at the beginning of last year. Anybody with me here?

Welcome to the forums.

I would be against starting McNair if he's not healthy, Boller does very well at home. That being said, I think Steve can use the reps in a friendly environment.

Thanks for the welcome!

I am concern that McNair may not be 100% as well, I wouldn't be surprised to see him out in the 2nd half. I just believe that Boller has earned a chance to start this game. And if McNair shows up like he did in week one, he needs to be benched in the 1st quarter.

In the first game Mcnair got banged up early so he wasnt doing as good as he could just a slow start but boller did look good against the jets but mcnair is a better QB obviously and if billick thinks hes ready to go then he is i dont know if boller will be our future QB AGAIN but he did look good he did sign a new contract but we did draft troy smith! mcnair is deffiantly not in his prime but he is a play maker maybe mcnair has helped boller get better

McNair still made plays against cincy despite playing with his injury more or less all game long. i trust that he will have a good day today against the cards so long as hes healthy. if he wasnt healthy i dont think billick wouldve started him, especially after what boller did last week, so lets see how it plays out.

I have many hopes and worries with Smith, I definetly don't think hes got starting capabilities in the near future, maybe 09. He's just too short and makes too many mistakes (if the Florida game, and preseason didnt show us that alreay). Under the right veteran I think he'll be okay. I also really only give McNair one more year, so Boller may be someone we have to rely on. Hopefully we can

I was really hoping McNair would never come back. Why can't he get a career ending injury, like say in the 3rd quarter of this game? This team is just wasting Boller's prime years as a QB by leaving him on the bench.

thats pretty harsh and ignorant to say, especially when McNair had a much better game than Boller. His years ahead will be better spent when he's more consistent and can truly show us he's ready to lead the team. As for now he can grind it out behind McNair, and I'm confident that this is a effective formula for the Ravens at this point in the season.

That was so stupid they put Boller in with 10 minutes left which almost cost us the GAME.

would you rather see McNair hurt himself even more so he'd be out for the rest of the season?

First of all, how can you say he had a much better game than Boller? Boller had two drives. Completed 80% of his passes for 83 yards. Sounds pretty good to me. I just believe it's time to give him his FAIR shot as a starter with this particular offensive group. Oh, and WOW I can't believe Shannon Sharpe of all people just said he even thinks Boller gives the Ravens a better shot at winning.

He didn't seem very hurt he couldn't tough it out for 10 more minutes for the teams sake?. You even saw Ray throw his helmet and stare right at Billick for what was going on with McNair not finishing up the last 10 minutes and we were about to blow the game. And McNair looked ready to go at any moment when Boller was in. Because of all that Heap took a SHOT I sure hope he isn't out for awhile with a severe concussion.

i agree, i do think he could have played for a while longer. but then i think you know, what if he does hurt himself for the rest of the season. what happens now?

as for heap, i really hope hes fine. hopefully its just minor.

Didn't really mean to sound so harsh, I'd just rather see Boller lead the team. No, I don't wish any pain on him. Why can't he just retire? Does that sound better?

Dude your are not a FAN wishing that on a player and especially your so called "TEAM". WOW get off the bandwagon Boller isn't as good as McNair is sorry to bust your bubble, McNair goes down field kills the clock which Boller isnt consistent doing yet. And Boller cannot take as much time off the CLOCK as McNair can by any means. I bet last year you were riding McNair's bandwagon who led us to a Career high 13-3 RECORD. Boller has 1 good game last week drove us to a winning FIELD GOAL TODAY, which McNair could easily do and your all over him. MY DAD was right about how Boller is going to go out their and Billick is going to make him look like a STAR for leading us to a last minute field goal win. When our D just BLEW against OLD KURT WARNER who tore us apart. HOW SAD THAT WAS, I am glad it wasn't a MONDAY night game.

That's another dumb opinion. That's like saying why wont KURT WARNER JUST RETIRE HE IS OLD. But when he came out did he almost beat us!? compared to young LIENART WHO IS A BETTER QB THEN BOLLER. And You mine as well say Ray Lewis should retire too he is almost as old as well. Age doesn't mean a thing.. like Ray said I don't plan on retirement I still have to much LOVE FOR THIS GAME and until I stop having all this love for the game or I don't get injured bad I plan on playing forever. McNair is a GREAT QB still only thing Boller has over him now is HIS arm strength, and is quicker scrambling but still sucks at it!!. Boller MAY NOW FINALLY BE GOOD AFTER 5 MILLION years in the NFL being coached by McNair who you are bashing, and I still myself wont make that call official until he proves to me he can light it up on the road and keep on winning. 1 win doesn't show me anything, and today his last minute drive didn't mean a whole lot because I knew for a fact McNair could have did the same thing.

duddeeee! chilll. ahahha. he (or she) already said that he/she didnt mean it in a mean way or anything. i can understand where he/she is coming from with wanting boller in and mcnair out considering mcnairs first game. but it still doesnt justify why he/she would want mcnair to stay out or the game for good.

and not to be too forward but werent you the one saying you werent watching any football anymore after the 1st game?

I don't remember if I said for sure I wasn't going to 100% cuz of my health and I didn't wanna suffer another heart attack. But If I did I take it back I was a hypocrit but I took my chances Football over my health and stayed with my boys as I have since 96, just hope I don't suffer anymore heart problems. The first game was BS anyways refs ruined it should have been a tie went into OT, but the past if the past. Ihave been by my boys when they sucked in 96 and so on and havn't left em yet.

The comment I made would have been something my dad would have SAID whenever we sucked he walked away from the TV and I stayed watching and being a FAN and made fun of him.... So I admit I was a hypocrit in a WAY but I also did have a bit of a reason so gimme some slack here, been routing since I was 13 or so I'm now 24 went to the very FIRST Ravens OFFICIAL REGULAR SEASON GAME ever GOOD TIMES so I don't plan on going anywhere unless I die, and I will still be routing somewhere else LOL.

I've always been a Boller fan, since day 1. I always argued for him throught all that adversity. I don't like McNair, that's my opinion. Getting him here was a waste of time and money. That 13-3 record was not by McNair's leadership. He did a fair job, mediocre numbers at best, which was just enough for this team to get by. Geez, I'm not here to fight with anyone.

McNair put 23 points on the board. Boller had 3. One of those two drives stalled and gave the ball back with 10 minutes left and the second could have caused a catastrophic injury to one of our best and most loved players. The penalty from that brought us into field goal range and Boller centered the ball with his run for Stover. Boller didn't really win that game for us as much as we'd like to think. If Heap hadn't held on to that pass then wed have the penalty but Boller would've needed to make another 2 or so plays to get Stover in.

ignore him he does this a lot. but anyway you cant deny that McNair's presence here does bring a certain swagger to the team, with or without adversity. The team follows him and he really takes the pressure off Boller and can handle it better. Boller can step in when McNair isn't up to the task or need not be injured so it's all good.

Reed 4 Prez, how did Boller "almost cost us the game"?

He wasn't the one who gave up 17 pts in the 4th quarter. He wasn't the one who could rush the passer. He wasn't the one who was covering Boldin and Fitzgerald.

agreed, if anything Boller is the One who Drove the offense downfield into scoring range for Matt Stover to Kick the ball through the uprights, therefore winning the game for us, i applaud Boller for coming through for us when it counted :) :)
