if his trial is delayed til after the season is over, would a healthy Burress "in the best shape of his life" be worth a one year contract as not only a true #1, but an insurance plan for Mason's shoulder?

thoughts....

I agree. I am sick of quick fixes. I want long term solutions. Thats how you build a dynasty.

since when is 31 "old" for a WR??.. i guess its time to get rid of everyone over 30 off our roster... cya derrick mason, ray lewis, pryce, birk, rolle, BA, gregg, ed reed..... youre all too old and washed up

lol i know this isnt the point that you guys are trying to make, and im not even saying im a fan of burress, but the "too old" argument doesnt really work for me in his situation.. if he was 34, sure, but 31?? c'mon.. he can easily play another 5 years

I am sure he could. But will it be at a high level? Chances are he wont. Thats my problem with Boldin who is 29. It just seems silly to me to bring a guy in and pay him 10 million dollars when he's already hit his prime and is only going to decline from there. In 5 years, your going to be 10 million dollars + to a reciever who is probably a 3rd wideout at best. It doesnt make sense.

i think he does too, but im talking strictly hypothetically a one year contract.

my question is, would a quick-fix like burress put us over the top for a year if he didnt demand a lucrative salary like boldin, marshall, etc.. and if so, would it be worth it?

You obviously want a 'quick fix' to our WR problem.I propose going after BMarsh who can easily play another 10 years.

It always funny to me when fans say a player could play for another 10 years...... He could be side-lined tomorrow...

a "quick fix" might be all it takes to make a superbowlrun, without having to sacrifice our future for one player

I see where the difference in opinion is now. You think we are one or two players away and are ready to make a run for it now. I and I think Simba agrees, would like to see a foundation built, so that we dont have that fall from glory after we win it all. At the end of the day winning is all that matters. Its like do you put all your eggs in one basket and go for the knock out punch or do you spread them out and try to prolong the glory. There are pro's and con's to each. I think we can all agree that as long as the Ravens win, it doesnt matter how they went about doing it.
