Pro Football Talk To Partner With Nbc
The network is expected to announce today that it has formed a wide-ranging partnership with Florio's Profootballtalk.com -- known as PFT to its legions of readers -- with plans to make it a permanent feature at the top of the NBC Sports site. Terms of the deal have not been announced.
Source: The Los Angeles Times via The Baltimore Sun

My biggest gripe about this is that, while run-of-the-mill news sources like ProFootballTalk.com are getting partnerships, no one's heard of The National Football Post. A lot of people claim that they want credible news mixed with insightful commentary, yet they flock to sites like PFT that simply re-post and re-word stories and offer opinions; meanwhile, NFP gets no credit for having a similar formula but with ACTUAL NFL insiders (former players, agents, and executives) and original content.

My bias aside, however, this should help NBC Sports gain some ground on their online competitors like FOXSports.com and SI.com. Granted, they will probably never reach the level of an ESPN.com (which gets hits simply based on brand recognition), but this should at least close the gap a little bit. Smart move for NBC Sports, even if I don't agree with their particular choice.
