5 Favorite Ravens Games Of 2008

15 posts in this topic

Hey I was just thinking about last season and all of the great games that the Ravens played, i'm just interested to see how you guys would rate your 5 favorite games of last season.
Here's mine:

5. Ravens 37-27 come from behind victory over the Browns- The Ravens were down 27-13 near the end of the 3rd quarter but they didn't lose hope. They kept plugging away, Clayton made a great diving TD catch on Flacco's 46 yard pass, Ray Rice's long run in the 4th quarter to the Browns 3 yard line to set up what would be Stover's game winning field goal was amazing, and then when you think Derrick Anderson is going to put together a drive to tie or win the game late Suggs gets that memorable pick 6 to put the game out of reach.

4. Ravens dominate the Eagles- I live around a TON of Eagles fans so this game was so sweet for me. Not many defenses can make Donovan Mcnabb look as bad as he did in the first half of that game, and what's even better is that we got him pulled for kevin kolb! lol. Reed's record tying interception touchdown was amazing and it came right when Kolb seemed to have found some rhythm and they could have gotten back in the game with a TD.

3. Tie-Both Ravens wins over Miami- We all had to sit and listen to the talking heads preach about this amazing "wildcat" offense that Miami was using. I know in my mind i'm thinking well that MAY work against an average defense but now your playing the big boys, and in both games they gained what 20 yds or something using it? Flacco's first big statistical game of his career was the first miami game, then who can forget ed reed's performance in the playoffs? It was sweet revenge for being labeld as the only team to lose to the lowly dolphins of 2007.

2.Ravens close out Texas Stadium- The fact that Jerry Jones picked the Ravens to be their opponent for that game in particular says a whole lot about how little respect the Ravens had going into last season. NOBODY thought that the Ravens had a chance against the Cowgirls. They weren't expecting the Ravens to come in and just out muscle them like they did. The defense completely punished Romo that night and it was so sweet when Leron and Willis broke those two long TD's to deflate them just when they were coming on strong. It was also a must win game for us to stay in the wildcard race.

1. Ravens upset Titans in the playoffs- The Ravens were obviously beaten up and tired by then but the defense FORCED turnovers in the redzone and kept Tennessee to just 10 points. I remember the last few minutes of that game to be some of the most exiting in Ravens history, Joe converts that 3rd and long to HEEAP to keep the drive alive, and stover connects on the 43 yarder to put us ahead. I think i lost my voice from screaming so loud! Even though we eventually lost in the AFC championship, that game proved that the Ravens deserve to be considered among the NFL's elite teams.

In the first I believe it was more like 4 yards on five plays.

Although it wasn't a huge upset or anything I LOVED watching the game against the Raiders. It was so exciting...especially watching Joe catch that pass from Troy.

5) Ravens-Titans (Week 5) -- I know it was a Ravens loss, but Baltimore pretty much dominated the game until the final 2 minutes. Plus, it was fun to watch Cortland Finnegan almost cost his team the game and Keith Bulluck pretty much ready to knock him out on the sideline.

4) Ravens-Dolphins (Divisional Round) -- It was Joe Flacco's first playoff victory and the Ravens defense silenced everyone that said the Wildcat offense couldn't be contained TWICE in the same season.

3) Ravens-Bengals (Week 1) -- It was a sloppy game in retrospect, but holds a special place in my heart because I was there at M&T Bank Stadium for Joe Flacco's regular-season debut, first (rushing) TD, and first win. The "Let's Go Flacco" chants still give me goosebumps.

2) Ravens-Cowboys (Week 16) -- Need I say more?

1) Ravens-Eagles (Week 12) -- I live in Eagles country, so there was not a sweeter victory for me. Donovan McNabb's benching would've been the ultimate icing on the cake had it not been for Ed Reed's record-breaking INT return. Flacco's huge TD pass to Mark Clayton on a slant route...Fabian Washington's great spin-around INT...Jarret Johnson's deflected "fumble" return...the list goes on for all the great moments for me in that game. It was arguably the most complete team victory all season.

It was a beautiful game. Flaccos run was amazing.

Some of my favorite games were the win over the Skins and both wins over the Dolphins. The way that their fans acted really made those wins so much more satisfying.

TOP 5
1. Divisional @ Tennessee
2. Wild Card @ Miami
3. @ Dallas
4. Eagles
5. Redskins

my list is going to be very different for the fact that i get very limited ravens games on T.V

i'd say

5) the first steelers game
4) Dolphins game 1 (was at that game thats why)
3) Dallas (odds were against us.... and we bulldozed 2 records in one night..... right before the bulldozer was taken to the stadium)
2) Steelers game 2
1) Philly (dad is an eagles fan)

The best games were:

5.)Ravens vs. Cowboys/Ravens vs. Redskins - Shutting out the Cowboys in their last game @ their own stadium made me happy inside. They started to put up a fight but after the Le'Ron McClain run,I knew it was done.Ed Reed was a monster vs. the Redskins.

4.)Ravens vs. Steelers - Even though we lost, defense was the key factor of the game, and waiting in suspense to see if the Santonia Holmes TD catch was in or not was great.

3.)Ravens vs. Eagles - I live near Philly and when they benched McDonovan and put Kolb in,I knew Ed Reed was gonna end up with the ball somehow.

2.)Ravens vs. Dolphins [Playoffs] - We steamrolled over the Dolphins and it was great to see Flacco pull a Big Ben and run in a TD.

1.)Ravens vs. Titans/Ravens vs. Steelers [Playoffs] - These two games are tied on how defensive each one was, with Crumpler letting giving up a fumble and Flacco throwing a INT leading to their respective teams losing.

Honorable mentions: Ravens vs. Giants,Raiders & Texans.

5. Ravens @ Dolphins (playoffs)
It's always good to win playoff games, but it was especially nice to get rid of that "Haven't won a playoff game in years" record.

4. Raiders @ Ravens
100th Franichise win
Joe Flacco caught a 43 yard pass and rushed for a touchdown
This was just a good old fashoined butt whooping.

3. Eagles @ Ravens
Even if we didn't make McNabb look like a fool, even if we didn't hold their offense to zero points, Ed Reed's record breaking interception (which probably got McNabb his job back) would have been enough to make this one of the best games of 2008

2. Ravens @ Cowboys
I hate the Cowboys, and their fans, and their city, and pretty much everything associated with them and seeing them lose is always a treat. It was even more memorable because we were at their house, in a primetime game when they had invited all of their all-stars to watch the final game in Texas Stadium. A real treat was seeing the Ravens get 150+ yards in two back to back touchdown runs when this was the team that had been handpicked as an easy win.

1. Ravens @ Titans
This was a very close and brutal battle, but the Ravens came out on top and in doing so John Harbaugh and Joe Flacco became the first rookie head coach and rookie starting quarterback, respectively, to win two playoff games. Who would have thought that a 5-11 bottom of the division, walking wounded team would even make it to the post-season, much less win two the playoff games?

Pity we were ripped off against the Steelers.

I forgot that first loss to the Steelers. I was really nervous about that game, with Joe having to go into that S=== hole on national tv so early in the season. If anyone remembers, our defense was suffocating them so bad at one point that their offense got booed until halftime almost. Two plays cost us that game. Jarret Johnson losing his cool on hines ward on the sideline and joe's fumble that got returned for a TD. Also, remember Rashard Mendenhall was running his mouth all week saying he was going to run all over our D..then he met RAY RAY in the hole and got his shoulder broken!hahahaha that was great. Anyway, i remember Flacco AT ketchup field on national TV driving us down the field late in the 4th quarter to tie the game and send it to overtime. He really showed ALOT of poise in that game it just sucks that the one mistake he made was so costly.
