Here is a good article about how KJ Gerard is impacting the coaching staff and front office.

http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/footbal...olumn?track=rss

This CB race is gonna be really interesting. I think Rolle, Washington, Foxworth, Carr, and Webb are all locks. That leaves 1 or 2 spots for Walker, Oglesby, Anwar Phillips, and Gerard (probably others too that I can't think of right now). In the article it hints at Gerard fitting in at safety but we are loaded there so I don't think he can steal a roster spot there. If he can play safety and corner, he might surprise and earn a spot over Walker and the other guys because of his versatility. I cant wait for training camp when the pads come on.
martin gets a spot... he is too young and athletic to let go

It sounds like KJ is just as athletic and young. But i can never tell who is better. Writers just write stuff and make players sound so good just so people will read them.

Mmm. I just asked D-Fox about KJ on Twitter, interested to see what his take is.
I'm so confused. They said kj was slow because he ran a 4.49? Most of the cornerbacks ran that fast in the combine this year. Sounds like a stud we got. Thats really cool. He has good size and can tackle. Cant wait to see this guy mature.
Your 40 time is not the tell all in speed on the football field. When was the last time you saw an NFL player get down on the ground in a track stance before the balls is hiked? When was the last time you saw a DB line up next to a WR before the balls is hiked. The 40 is ran from a track and field classic 4 point stance and DB's line up facing the WR. Tech, tackling and knowledge of the game are more important 4.49 is fast enough.

But you can still get a general idea of how fast they can run. You can't completely ignore it and say it's useless. But if KJ runs about the same speed as all the other top corners i just don't understand what they mean by he is slow. Maybe it was the fact he wasn't used to the speed of the game in the NFL and he was slower when the scouts looked at him but he is adjusting well to the gameplay.
we aren't going to drop Carr, we just signed him. Walker is the odd man out because of his salary. Walker is a bum anyway... Gerard had 19 picks in college! he has a nose for the ball, i don't care who you are playing against. i want to see him make this team. and i agree the article was hinting at a possible FS/CB hybrid for Gerard. which wouldn't be a bad thing for a dime back.

Foxworth
Washington
Rolle
Carr
Webb
Gerard

Oglesby, Martin, and Phillips fight for 1-2 PS spots.
Oglesby & Martin are not PS eligible... Phillips might still be eligible, but I'm unsure about him.

It will be an interesting fight in TC... IMO Martin has the edge, he is only 24 and is already entering his 4th NFL season, the NFL is a whole new level that takes guys a little time to adjust. IMHO KJ will end up on PS because he will be eligible and Martin is not costing much $ and not PS eligible.

Walker, Martin Oglesby and Phillips will be fighting for a 6th CB spot.... I'm thinking it will go to Walker unless they cut him because of his salary, if thats the case I believe Martin has the edge.

Washington
Foxworth
Rolle
Webb
Walker (may possibly be cut due to salary cap)
Carr

Martin/Oglesby/Phillips/Gerard will be where the biggest fight will be. I believe only Gerard & possibly Phillips are PS eligible

Salary cap or not Frank Walker should be on the team and no worse than your nickel DB fellas. Wake up and consider how he stepped up last year!

Some very mixed sentiments towards Frank Walker. I didn't see many Ravens games, but what I saw of him was decent to say the least. Still by no means do I feel as though I know enough about him to judge it either way... May the best men win, and it sounds like we have a lot of talented youth to pick from at least.
