Flacco Gets Some Love On Nfl Network

18 posts in this topic

So i was just watching NFL network and right after they showed the Harbaugh interview, Marshall Faulk and Mike Martz looked at some tape of Flacco. Mike Martz seemed to be very pleased with Flacco saying that he could really be something special and there aren't many quarterbacks in the NFL that can make some of the throws that he can. It wasn't much but it has just been a long time since there has been any good press on a Raven's quarterback so it was kinda cool

I see Flacco improving big-time this year. Some of the throws made last year were stunning and it's going to be sweet when he gets better at reading defenses and calling audibles.

The offense is going to be much more dynamic this year, because it will be the second year in Cam's system. Flacco is going to have a much better grasp of the offense, so they are going to give him some more freedom. The offense won't be as safe with Flacco just throwing to the sidelines and backs, so I expect some big plays but also more interceptions.

Another thing you'd love to see with Flacco is that freakish Roethlisberger ability to shake off free runners. Flacco's tall and athletic enough to put on some pounds of muscle and still be able to move his feet.

If he can do that and get rid of the ball/tuck the ball a little better sometimes to prevent fumbles, Flacco will be near unstoppable, especially if we add more weapons.
He already improved a ton on getting rid of the ball from preseason to the end of the season.

Let's hope lightning strikes twice and Flacco leads us to the SuperBowl.

The videos usually play better on br.com. I am pretty sure they will be up within the next 24 hours, if they are not up right now.

What is with posters on this site and not linking? If you're going to crudely summarize a video segment, at least direct people to the actual video.

I'm not saying that Big Beth isn't talented; because he obviously is, but even with his "freakish ability" he was still sacked like 46 times last year (second most in nfl, behind Matt Cassel-47, unless im mistaken). Joe Flacco was sacked 32 times and he had an injured O-line protecting him.
A refreshing change from the usual "The Ravens won in spite of Flacco" comments that so-called analysts make.
Lol, when Jamie Dukes or whoever said that, I was taken aback for a moment. I had gotten so used to "But he had a good defense..."

To be fair to Big Ben his O-Line was awful last year, even with our injuries our O-Line was/is better!!
He might have been sacked 46 times last year but without his talent to evade the sack that number could of been double.

Wow I just stuck up for a Steeler :o

:P

I actually think its a two way street with him. His offensive line is not as bad as he sometimes makes them look. They are not great but they are not awful either. Atleast 50%, of Ben's sacks and hits are because he holds the ball way to long.

I disagree, the O-Line of the Steelers was awful last season, did you watch the Eagles game? There may be times when he holds the ball too long but at least 50% I disagree with! They didn't even run the ball well last season, if it wasn't for Big Ben they wouldn't of come close to winning the Superbowl IMO.

Anyway back on topic :P, did you see the pass they showed at the end of the Martz breakdown?!! (To Heap against Dallas.)

WOW. :)

I think Flacco was sacked so few times because we had maximum protection on most plays. We often kept Heap and a RB in to help protect Flacco. We are going to find out just how good our O-line is this season when we take the training wheels off the offense and let more guys run routes. I think our O-line will get exposed more this season and could lead to more sacks on Flacco, but at the same time we will also have some big plays because Flacc Atatack will have more options. Take the good with the bad and hope there is more good.

yes this is true. The one knock on ben is that he does keep the ball and just waits and waits and waits for getting something downfield, refusing to check it down sometimes. Thats when he's his best, when there's pressure and he flushes out and manipulates his offense to get players open. it's annoying, but it works. :P that may also account for why his quarterback rating is much better out of the pocket, than in the pocket.
