Congrats. When you're old enough to get a steady job and buy your own (and subsequently know what specs to look for), then you'll love and appreciate it even more.

I remember when I got my first laptop, I took it virtually everywhere I went. To the car, at the dinner table, at the gym, coffee shop, school, work, sometimes even the bathroom. And there was never a day where I wouldn't wake up next to it :P

Nothing beats the feeling of getting your first BIG paycheck, then being able to do what you want with it; I personally saved most of it, but later on, I was able to afford my first BIG purchase, and it was the best feeling in the world.

Either way, have fun with your laptop.
Hey chise wat laptop do you have ?
HP Pavilion dv6000. 120gb hard drive, DVD-RW burner, integrated 802.11 Wi-Fi, 2gb RAM (was looking to upgrade to 4, though), Intel DuoCore processor. Came with Windows Vista and managed to score Microsoft Office through work/school; I gutted a lot of the preinstalled apps, and the computer started running a lot faster. It looks sexy as hell, but the glass screen causes A LOT of glare outside, and the polished piano black glossed finish on the lid makes it easy to scratch and leave fingerprints. Keep in mind, I bought it roughly two years ago, so those features aren't exactly top-of-the-line right now -- but back then, they were pretty good for the price (less than $1000.)

Right now, I'm eyeing possibly a Toshiba or another HP (but without the glossy finish.) Either way, I'm at least a year off from making the purchase, so I have plenty of time (and plenty of options to come.)

Trust me, when you put in regular 40-hour weeks but then also get called into work and get overtime (even when you don't really want it) ON TOP of that, and you have rough days at work, you start to appreciate things more. Like, I never truly appreciated having a weekend off until I started working. And then being able to afford things I want because I made a conscious effort to work and SAVE always gives me a feeling like I'm a kid in a candy store. :)

Technology's crazy 'cause it's constantly evolving, so even a couple months makes all the difference.

My first laptop was a gateway. Two weeks after I got it, I left it sitting on the passenger seat in my car while I went into Lexington Market. When I came out it was gone.

and what the hell is wrong with desktops..... i'd much rather have a desktop..... if you feel the need you can constantly upgrade it, they are alot easier to upgrade, they run better, they have longer life spans than laptops (that also depends on care... if you got some1 who keeps their laptop in pristine condition, and compare them to some1 who beats their desktop... what do you think is going to survive longer)

so to be honest, i would take a desktop over a laptop anyday of the week..... don't get me wrong, i would use one... but wouldn't trade my desktop for it
hahaha i know right got to be fool laptops rule
I love laptops, don't get be wrong, but to be fair, desktops are more powerful. Desktops are infinitely upgradeable (laptops are limited by their casing and hardware available on the market specifically for laptops), and they are designed to be worked hard. Laptops are fragile by nature because of how all the parts are so compact. That's just the way things are.

But, for my needs, I still prefer laptops. Like I said, I'm always on the go and I'm always working in some way, shape, or form. If I was gonna drop $2,000 on a computer, though, I'd spend that on a desktop, hands-down.
