Article On Flacco

14 posts in this topic

Sounds like the coaches and players are putting great confidence in Flacco, and he is succeeding. Cam is letting him call the plays now, and be the offensive leader.

Here's a good quote from Ray:
"Joe is light-years ahead of where he should be, just like last year as a rookie," linebacker and team leader Ray Lewis says. "He's always trying to fix something, tweak something."

Read it, lots of good info in there...

Side Note: Mentions Flacco throwing a 25 yd TD pass to Kelley Washington. I wouldn't be surprised to see Washington as the #2 reciever and putting Clayton in the slot.

Not to grill you or anything but just because Flacco threw a 25 yd pass to Kelley Washington doesn't mean he will get the number 2 spot. John Beck threw a couple of bombs to Marcus Smith and that doesn't mean anything as well.

Obviously it is more wishfull thinking than fact, but Washington has got the size and potential to be the deep threat we need... plus they got him lining up with the starters... not Beck

Im just glad to hear how hard Flacco is working even in the off season... Harbaugh must love this kid

Apparantly I heard something that after Flacco sucked it up in the AFCCG he stormed into the lockerroom demanding to see the game tape. I like his work ethic.

Nice article. I hope Joe's hard work is realized on the playing field.

As the article said, though [or maybe it was the comments], it will be interesting to see how the other defenses react to Joe now that they have tape on him. Let's hope Joe and the coaches have some answers to that.

HAHAHAHA GLAD YOUR NOT THE COACH!!!!

oh btw joe disagrees wit ya

Flacco gained added respect for sticking up for his receivers after they endured criticism for lacking a big-play dynamic.

"We had a pretty darn good team last year, and obviously it was with the guys we had, so we don't need anybody else," Flacco says.

That's funny cuz your not the coach either... its all speculation right now. But who's to say if Williams gets hurt, we wont be seeing Washington line up regularly.

In regards to the Flacco post, if you've read any of my posts in the past you'll know I'm one of the bigger Clayton supporters... and D Mase well everyone has to like him. So there was no intentional knock on our current wide recievers.

But I'm still sayin Mason and Washington with Clayton in the slot.

I don't think Clayton will lose the 2nd spot just yet simply because let's face it, he made some huge plays and having a year with Flacco will surely result in a lot more of those types of plays. I am unsure if Mason will be able to stay healthy all season but we need him to. Washington should be our #3 receiver, he'll definitely open up Mason's intermediate routes, unless Marcus Smith is getting better, as is suggested by the news articles about his improvement in OTAs

This past Sunday, the NFL channel was showing week 13 - when we played Cincinnati and Clayton made 3 really nice catches. Yeah, it was the Bengals, but those were still some nice catches. If he can do that consistently with Joe throwing to him, it would mean good things for our offense.

I heard about that too. I'm glad he's hitting the film early; you can be sure that next years opponents are doing the same.

Washington isn't likely to turn into a Fitzgerald, but he may be good enough for us. Think about it, he used to be back-up for the Bengals, and that means that he wasn't better than Chad and TJ, but he could potentially be better than most of the guys on our squad (except Mason imho).

I think Clayton's best catch was in the post-season against the Titans.

Clayton is a BEAST in the slot. He played there in college, he was so good he was a first round pick. He has potential to be as good if the ravens use him the same way. This may work out well for all our receivers.

And if the NFL network shows that game, I'll probably get even more excited! :D What got me excited about the Bengals game was that last season, Joe was still getting comfortable with the offense and mostly felt comfortable with Mason. To see the connections he made with Clayton in that game made me excited to see how Joe will do this year, where hopefully he'll feel comfortable with all of his receivers.

An exciting offense in Baltimore again - who'da thunk it?
