Harbaugh To Visit Our Troops

27 posts in this topic

I just read that Harbaugh, along with Tom Coughlin (NYG) and Jeff Fisher (TEN) will visit soldiers this summer in the Persian Gulf. I have all the respect in the world for not only the soldiers, but John Harbaugh is really a standup guy and I'm glad he's running our beloved Ravens.

Some of you might have already known this, but I just thought i would share...

I'm not saying Harbaugh isn't a nice guy, but it annoys me when some famous person or athlete visits troops or was in the military and it all of a sudden makes them a nice, good guy, down to earth person.

but thats not really their fault, thats more of media, and personal opinion by the audience who hears about it

I heard James Harrison was invited as well but he came out and said:

"If you want to invite James Harrison to Iraq, do it when I don't win Defensive Player of the Year. Invite me when I'm washed up and on the injured reserve or something, like next year"

John Harbaugh has made a habit of doing stuff like visiting troops, working with youth, and simply being a good guy to the fans and reporters.

Harbs has demonstrated that he is a good guy and a good coach. Harbs supports the O's who can obviously use alot of support. look what our team accomplished last year under his coaching. Harbs was a proven good guy before he decided to join the tour. Nough said

I dunno Harbaugh is probably a good guy but the fact that he put McGahee 2nd string in OTAs is a slap in the face. Ray Rice and Leron McClain didn't do **** last year in postseason compared to Willis and thats why im pissed. Atleast Billick respected our players..

That's not what anyone is saying. But taking time out of your life to go to a war zone... that's kinda' decent.

So you're saying Harbaugh doesn't respect the players and you'd prefer to have Billick back?

Billick was a players coach.

He let Bart Scott be Bart Scott.
He took all the heat for Ray Lewis during the allegations.
He treated the players like men (not ever benching someone because they wore shorts)

He wasn't a bad coach at all. His only mistake was probably finding a QB for the team. Boller couldnt get it done. We let DA go. We had several QBs under him who we didn't really stick with.

Anyways I'm ranting because I don't personally like Harbs but anyways it is very cool of him to go to Iraq or whatever middle-east region he is visiting.

Maybe because Willis sucked last year and we had to put the better guys in there to play.

I'm sorry but how did Willis "suck" last year. He was out of shape when he came to training camp and was injured but still ran the ball very efficiently.

And he was running behind McClain, not Neal......

...so why is this now about Willis McGahee and John Harbaugh as a coach, instead of John Harbaugh doing a good deed?

I never said he was running behind Neal. He always ran behind McClain.

How is that a slap in the face? Ray Rice has been working hard and attending every mini camp so he has been working with the first team. McGahee shouldn't just be able to show up and automatically take his place. Harbaugh respects our players, so I don't know why you would question that. He just respects them equally, so there is no favoritism.

No kidding, thats the point. I wasn't argueing against you I was argueing on your side. If he was behind Neal the truck he woulda had an extra 300 yds.

Yeah, I can't believe we let Neal go to the Raiders. McFadden is going to go crazy behind him.

Does anyone know what players are doing the military tour?

I know this is an old post but after reading the story on the homepage and watching NFLTA I thought I would bring this topic up again. I am very proud of all the men and women serving our country and also John Harbaugh for visiting some of our troops. I would imagine the troops really appreciate the coaches going over there and showing some love. Thank You American soldiers for all you do for our country!

"He was out of shape when he came to training camp"... #1

Then he blamed the coaches... #2

Then he kiss the sky with his feet on the last play of his season... #3

I wouldn't even mention #3 if he took responsibility for #1. But he blamed the coaches for showing up out of shape. Outside his mind is where he is.

Wow. This thread was created to show our appreciation towards Coach Harb's. With how he's taking the time out of his life to visit the troops that are fighting for ours and others freedom, and people still manage to turn it into a debate over some completely off topic issue.

Back to the original topic. Coach Harb's is a class act guy, I'm glad he's leading the Ravens as our head coach. I know he will bring MORE success to our Baltimore Ravens. It's the little things that make a big difference, It's not an easy life style or job over there fighting the terrorist, and a visit from a few NFL coaches can really boost some morale. As my old football coach would say, It's the little things that make big things happened.

Thank you Coach Harb's, and to everyone Happy 4th of July!!! Now go get drunk and blow stuff up with fireworks!! (lol)

amen.

anyone else offended by Cowher's comment over there, claiming that region as "steelers nation"?.. a little friendly competition/trash talking never hurt anyone, but c'mon.. that seems like a slap in the face infront of the other coaches... i cant wait til september.
