Favorite War/military Action Movie

24 posts in this topic

Yeah, this is basically an expansion of the other thread about "favorite horror movie" except different topic, this time war movies, from movies like Saving Private Ryan to Glory. I know not everybody likes to watch movies of warfare, but I, for one, love war movies. So, what is your favorite war movie?

I would actually go with Full Metal Jacket. The first part of the movie was the best.

Glory and Saving Private Ryan are tied for my top two war films, though I've admittedly forgotten a lot of Glory because I haven't seen it in years. I think this is a good excuse for me to revisit it.

The Last Samurai gets honorable mention, but only because of the great emotional range displayed by Ken Watanabe (his English, though serviceable, took away from some of his acting, but can't blame him since he's not a native speaker). Tom Cruise otherwise almost ruined the film for me.

Don't care if it's a movie or a series. IMO it was the greatest war feature ever put to film.

I like Telly Savalas' reaction to that quote.
