The Offensive Line

4 posts in this topic

OK, we all know that jonathan ogden and mike flynn are due for retirement...but what next?

--the future is

LT: Adam Terry

LG: Jason Brown

C: Chris Chester

RG:Ben grubbs

RT:marshal yanda

OK, this offensive line looks good, all but ben grubbs at right guard. why do we put him there? he has more talent and potential than jason brown (no sort of put-down to him, he is solid but also versatile at the same time)at that position. making grubbs learning right tackle at the same time is not a smart thing to do, yes he will be good, but not as good as if he were in left guard.

What i'm thinking is...

LT: Adam Terry

LG:Ben grubbs

C:Jason brown

RG:Chris chester

RT: marshal yanda

with this, chris chester can keep his position at right guard where he already is doing good, with a solid and developing marshal yanda at right tackle, with versatile blue-collar type worker jason brown at center. (look for him in the roster, it says guard and center)

ben grubbs being the left guard, where he will play better than he would at right guard

ps remember ben grubbs said once:

"playing right guard and not left guard is like switching your writing hand."(or something like that)

thoughts, clarifications, etc.?

our Offensive Line as it stands currently righ now, has extreme potential....its a Young Line that is showing excellent progress and poise, strength and speed and Agility..... i think we all saw last week with Boller under center...how well the O-Line gelled together, adding up to a WIN and Boller Not being sacked even 1 time in that game...that right there shows the potential and Skills that Our Line has learned and is progressing very nicely towards

Yes of course, but im thinking over the time after flynn and ogden. yes, ogden was out, but flynn wasn't. your point towards the offensive line having extreme potential is obviously correct by showcasing their talents vs the jets, but what about when flynn isnt the caller under center? i mean, then we have an empty spot at either center or right guard. as of now chester is the projected center but he should stay at right guard because grubbs would have to play left guard to showcase his own natural talents and true potential at left guard. ben grubbs is projected for right guard, and i dont think its such a good idea. also about center, i think it should be jason brown as i mentioned in my previous post. he's moreso of a veteran anyways, and he can basically play that position well.

we'll take it year by year....the answer to the Absence of Ogden is clear....Gaither.....we all have seen what he can do, hes a strong, powerful blocker who can drive defenders COMPLETELY out of the play, with time and practice, i see him almost mirroring Ogden himself...he's gonna be one heck of a Lineman for us, as for the Center and what not, like i said before, we'll take it year by year, and wait and see, besides the fact that we are moving Guys around on the line right now, experimenting, and they all seem to be gelling very well with everything, yes there are some bumps in the road, but yet again, thats to be expected, after all..before you can become great, you must first learn the basic's and learn from your mistakes and take adavantage of your chances.....so as for Flynn my answer is this.....we'll keep moving people around and testing certain people out in the Center position, eventually there will be a certian player who will emerge from the pack and take over at Center
