Leonhard

yeah it seems like Ravens fans are forgetting how many great defensive players we had who were simply a product of the system. You probably won't see the play of Bart Scott and Jim Leonhard decline that much because they will essentially be in the same system, although they won't have nearly as good players around them so a little decline will be there. However, there's Ed Hartwell, Marques Douglas, Anthony Weaver, Duane Starks, etc whose play all declined immensely when they were moved into a different system, so it's not anything to lose sleep over. Plus we have two really good backups in Nakamura and Zbikowski
I still can not get over the that I walked into Modell's last week and they had Leonard Jersey's for sale. I thought to myself and said "self wasn't he a free agent player that signed a 1 year deal to play for the Raven's?". He did play well but I doubt he will be missed.
Leonhard Jets jerseys? I havent seen any...still sad he wont be a Raven anymore as well though :(

I did not have a problem losing ivory but leohnard hurt me some. Scott as well was a sad loss to me. These 2 guys played because the love to play. Not for the money. The best hit on Ben was when scott drove him into the dirt.

Ah yes, a play that will be in every Raven history highlight package.

Yeah, basically success of those players came because of the surrounding cast, but i think that the way rex ryan utilized each individual player in defense, it was so critical to the success of the players. rex could find the strengths of each player and put the player in the position to play towards that. i.e. you dont want a LB that sucks on blitzing, to blitz. imo i think thats whats happening here.

Bart Scott will no longer be playing with one of the best linebackers that the game of football has ever seen, and Jim Leonhard will now be responsible for covering 1/3 of the earth. I suspect that both of their performances will seriously decine, but will still be grossly overrated due to the media hype over the [s]New York Ravens[/s] new look Jets, Rex Ryan's defense, and the next Flacco/Ryan (not) Mark Sanchez.

Oh, the hit was just beautiful. I have high hopes for Kruger though, I think we will get to see some more Worthlessburger pounding when he gets on the field.

:o
Leonhard in my opinion was a great player whe we needed last year. The remark about him only being good in our system is ridiculous. That would be true with almost any other player on our team correct ? I would have much rather have seen NAK go. When someone is around the ball as much as he was last year that is terrific instincts. You cannot teach that.
:o :D  Nak cost less is still on contract and will be way better tha leonhard very soon u sound like a (dare i say)

I've heard that there was a Bart Scott thread and it was even longer than all of the Boldin threads.

Yeah, there was so many conflicting stories about what was going on, and it lead to alot of posts.
I think it was 57 pages or something.

Leonhard played at close to a pro bowl level for us last year. The kid showed instincts that you can't teach. Maybe he had a flukey good year, maybe not. He made so many smart plays. To name just one: against the skins he was the blitzer going through the middle. He saw that the middle of the line had containment. Instead of flailing away uselessly trying to get to the QB he drifted back out and over into the passing lane where he timed his jump perfectly and batted down what would have been a sideline completion.

Landry is a better tackler and bigger hitter.

Who's better Landry or Leonhard? Based strictly on Leonhards play last year I'd take him over Landry.

He's waaaaay better than Zibikowski or Nakamura.

I think we should have tried to find a way to keep him. We'll see how he does this season though. Last year could have been a fluke.....but I doubt it.

I hope Landry comes back and has a terrific year...
