yea. i honestly think that's what all the other smaller-site sport websites do, just base it off of ones made by others.

This is a "franchise ranking", not a "team ranking"
Every NFL team was graded on eight categories:

# Owner
# Front office
# Head coach
# Coaching staff
# Quarterback
# Offense
# Defense
# Intangibles
Does anyone think we belong above Pittsburgh in any aspect whatsoever?

Generally speaking, they have a better offense, defense, head coach, owner and fan base than we do. I realize some of you will disagree, but the Steelers are very good at what they do; their success as a franchise, however, does not reflect the efforts of their scumbag fans and is rather emblematic of a good owner/front office.

We are a top tier team in all of those aspects as well, but unfortunately, Pittsburgh has been, is, and will be one of the best.

intresting question.

As a loyal fan of the Ravens I am tempted to say we belong above pittsburgh in every manner.
But in all reality I am not 100% sure.

Granted I have never been to ketchup field, nor do I know a thing about the orgonasiation. I will regretabaly admit last season they were a better team on the field. :puke:

Not 100% sure? I admire your devotion, I guess, but come on.

Without even touching on the fact that Pittsburgh had five championship before this season, we can conclusively say that in 2008 they had a better offense, defense and quarterback. Judging by history, we can also say that they have a superior owner, coaching staff, and head coach. The front office thing is debatable, but their FO has pumped out two championships in the past few years while ours hasn't produced a single SB appearance.

Again, I think we're a top six or seven organization in the league, but Pittsburgh is still better. Their fans are mostly Western Pennsylvania trash, but their team is quality!

I am a huge Ravens fan, but everytime the media picks the Ravens to be one of the better teams before the season starts, they wind up having a really bad year. (i.e. after 2006 the Ravens were slated to be Super Bowl contenders in 2007) It's fine that we all know the Ravens will have a good year, last year I predicted the Ravens would be 9-7 even when the media said they would be lucky to win 6 games. I want the Ravens to listed as like #14 or something and that should fire up the team again.

"The Ravens organization doesn't get enough credit for being among the elite. " - Adam Schein

It's true a lot of people don't see the Ravens as a great franchise, but they do see we have a great defense.

Half of the fans in the NFL probably have no idea we won a Superbowl this decade.

According to last year's results of course Pittsburgh looks like the better team. It all depends on injuries every year, that's the thing. For instance we were without half our secondary for 2/3 games, and our WRs and TEs were banged up the entire season. When the Ravens and Steelers split the season series it's somewhat due to injuries as well. Not to mention this was Joe Flacco's first year and he played the top-ranked defense in the league three times last season...and he played extremely well the first two, not so much the playoff game. Talk about experience though!

I'd actually have to disagree. People know we won in 2000, they just say that we were the worst offense that ever won a superbowl. Just like the steelers this year are know for having the worst OLine that has won the game.

Ask your average casual viewer, however, and they wouldn't be able to tell you that the Bucs and Ravens had each won a title as well.

I think defensively, we alternate year to year. It's either us, or them, any given year...then there's everyone else.
Offensively, up to this point, yes, but I think that will change either this year or the next.
Head Coach, most certainly they have always had the edge. Harbs may change that trend, though, time will tell.
Owner and fan base...I'm not knowledgeable enough to judge the owners, all I can say is that I'm very impressed by both from what I do know. Fan base, they win by sheer numbers, and love 'em or hate 'em, their fans are as passionate and devoted as any in the league.
I give them the edge, at least for the time being, but I also feel that from top to bottom, we belong at/near the top with them.

The Steelers been around for several, several decades, saying they have 5 SB Championships over us isn't saying too much.

They have the edge in every single category by your own admissions sans defense, and although we definitely have had more sensational units, the Steelers have been more consistent in that category as well.

Bisciotti is a great owner, but the Rooneys have paid their dues and proven their worth.

I think our fan base is good considering its market size/location/age, but the Steelers probably have the best and truest base in all of professional sports due to circumstances, such as Pittsburgh being so ****ty that everyone left, and roots being very deep with bandwagoners dating back to the '70s who have now birthed new generations of lifetime fans. The Steelers have also just been very good over long periods of time so they're an easy team to root for.
