Bleacherreport: Power Rankings

22 posts in this topic

Yes, it's another nfl power ranking:

6) Baltimore Ravens

This team scares me! Everyone seems to overlook the Ravens when people are determining their AFC Super Bowl representative.

This defense will always be dominant as long as Ray Lewis is there. Haloti Ngata and Terrell Suggs are nightmares for other teams to defend. Ed Reed (who I think should've won league MVP last year) is still patrolling that secondary, and their offense only got better.

They have a dynamic duo with Willis McGahee and Le'Ron McClain running, and the addition of Michael Oher only solidifies that offensive line. Joe Flacco is still learning but has proven he does what it takes to win.

Derrick Mason is the most reliable receiver on that lineup, and I expect a breakout year from Mark Clayton.

Expect Baltimore to be a team to reckon with this year. The Ravens could be the "under the radar" team of the 2009 season.

At first glance it looks like a decent rating, but then you have to take a look at the team he picked for number 3: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/185851-...rankings/page/1
Oh well, at least it was good for a laugh, and he gave us some props which is always appreciated.

Atlanta number 3? Wow. Thats a horrible pick. Sounds like number 6 is about where people think we deserve to be. I'm ok with that. IMO the first game where the ravens play the steelers is the most important in the whole year. The confidence they could build from that game could really reflect highly on the rest of the year.

Atlanta IMO has the best offense in the NFL. They have an amazing runningback who coul dbe better than AD due to him not have the fumbilitus. They have an amazing WR deep threat in White and a short guy in Gonzo plus a very underrted offensive line. They have Matty Ice aswell.

Although i think that we should be ahead of them i still think they are up there for contenders this year

I don't know about that; I would say that the Saints have the best offense. Drew Brees > Matt Ryan; but to each his own. Although there's definetely a chance that the Falcons could take their division, putting them directly behind the Steelers is laughable.

agree with every thing except the Clayton having a breakout year that guy is bad plain and simple and I know everyone is going to jump out and go OMG HOW COULD YOU SAY THAT but look at what he did last year NOTHING and when he did it was against HORRIBLE teams. End of story he has shown nothing.

If you think clayton is bad then you are <ill-informed> in my opinion. He is average. Every year im one of the guys that thinks clayton is gonna have a great year and i believe next year is the year with derrick being derrick and Having 2 probowl caliber TE (if not injured) this will be the year he blows up plus he has a contract coming up. So now let me make my case. Over the 4 years here are claytons stats and heaps stats.
CLAYTON HEAP
2005- 471 2005- 855
2006- 939 2006- 765
2007- 531 2007- 239
2008- 695 2008- 403

ya see. When heap does good, clayton does good. Just hope all our TE's will have a good year and clayton will have a good year also.

I wouldnt say he is bad. Realistically he didnt get as many looks as Mason did and Flacco was a rookie. I think Mason got 18% and Clayton got like 9 percent of the looks. And the Ravens didnt pass that much. I think he is going to break 1000 yards this year. I bet he has a better year than Mason. Granted Mason is old and injuried so its not like i'm making a really risky prediction. But if Clayton stays healthy i would put money he breaks a thousand yards.

Isn't bleacherreport just some site that anyone can "publish" an article on? Don't put any stock into this.

Since no one knows the future (not even the nfl.com "experts') I don't put stock into any of their reports, but this one was actually well written, and you have to admit that it's entertaining (#3). ;)

Why is Atlanta such a bad pick?

I highly doubt the 2009-2010 season has the exact same top tier teams as the 2008-2009 season, which is what his rankings indicate sans the one intriguing pick of the Falcons.

I for one would appreciate it if everyone said that we were going to have a horrible year. Every year that people start pumping us up and saying that we should have a good year the season has been a disaster. The lower everyone's expectations of us, the better we play.

How about we just live up to the great expectations, and not rely on superstitions?

Horrible teams? This arguably helped put us in position to win that game and advance to the AFCC!

I love that play! those two titans just ran into each other! Hilarious. That should have been an interception. Better lucky than good.

It's the fact that he only catches 41 passes and three touchdowns. That is the problem with Clayton. We need more consistency out of him.

He only caught 41 passes because most of the time the ball went to mason. Mason was joe's security blanket last year. This year, I think joe will spread the ball out a bit more. Clayton dropped very few passes all season, and made some tough catches, threw a td pass (even though my grandmother could probably beat the bungles secondary) listen, i don't think anyone is trying to say that Clayton is great but he isn't bad either. We just won't know exactly HOW good he is until he starts getting more looks from joe

The guy will be 27 years old come the start of the season. Hopefully he starts showing us something, or we'll have to start actively looking for a replacement.

If Clayton doesn't break 900 yards this year, he's a bust. The juries out on him. He's shown flashes of greatness, but those flashes just break down to inconsistency. Granted he's had 4 or 5 QBs in the last 4 years, and this is the first time he's had a credible deep threat like in Flacco.

That SOUNDS like a solid plan. Until you start noticing patterns when you lose and different patterns when you win. If superstitions werent believed in then there wouldnt be the beard superstition, the lucky underwear superstition, and you cant forget the you cant wash your game socks or you'll wash the luck away superstition. It sounds stupid, but it often feels like it works. And that's just how sports is. It doesnt have to make sense, it just has to work.

I hope none of our players has broken any mirrors lately. They also need to watch out for the cracks in the sidewalks; we don't want them missing any games to go to a funeral.
