I think we should pursue him he was pretty darn good with the Jaguars and I think he will do much better than Kelley Washington and D Williams.

A former first round pick, he is pretty quick as well running a 4.37 when he was drafted in 2005

I know you guys are going to comment on his off the field legal troubles but hopefully we can turn that around and we can atleast give him a shot it wont hurt. Like I said he has been a number 2 reciever before I think he would be a great number 3 because of this fact and we could get him for cheap too.

Does he even play and act like a raven?[/quote]

I dont think he flies around and has a big beak....

I don't really think you want a WR to act like a Raven because that might include dropping balls and being injured. Who cares about character? I rather win super bowls than have a bunch of Goodie Goods on the team.

Seriously? This dude is not any better then Mark Clayton and he has a drug problem. We dont need that type of baggage on this team. Especially, for a guy who isnt going to upgrade our reciever core.

Goodie Goods generally are the ones who get you the rings. The bad guys are always suspended and don't contribute anything other then the drive to their paycheck.

I can name 3 players from our super bowl team that have had legal problems....

You can't coach talent and I will take talent over character any day as long as it doesn't destroy the locker room (which it never did).

Thats the point. We've got plenty of backup WR already, we need STARTERS. Matt Jones isnt the solution. And frankly signing yet another backup wideout is insane. If we are not going to pick up a guy that can push Clayton down the depth chart and compete with Mason, then we might as well go with what we got. Atleast they are not just getting out of rehab.

Rather them coming out of a substance abuse rehab than a physical therapy rehab lol Matt Jones is a good reciever, I do not care what he does on his free time. And if we pick him up we can cut John Beck because he also plays QB. I think Matt Jones would be an excellent 3rd slot reciever and he would be a good number 2 reciever when we transistion after Mason retires and we don't want to throw a drafted rookie to the wolves. I watched a lot of the Jaguars games over the last 2 seasons and I have more things to say about this guy than D Will, Kelley and Marcus.

Here's my opinion. Your an NFL player, you have played your whole life to reach the highest level of play AND pay. Yet your gonna do cocaine? Not once but twice? What happens if the Ravens get him, he fits right into the offense, he and flacco make a great connection..then dude gets busted for blow again. Nah the Ravens don't have time for that. Maybe he'd fit in good with the bungles but not here. I'd take 3 WR's with common sense over one who is an idiot any day

And sadly there's plenty of people on this forum who would disagree with you.

I understand that risk and reasoning but than I watch the Kelley Washington youtube video and cringe. He needs someone like Derrick or Ray that can help him get past his addiction.

Those are only the times he got caught. And what happens is Eli without Plexico, enough said.

I can understand that point but he has to WANT to be helped. He's not going to change just because Ray Lewis and Derrick Mason advise him to change. I understand Ray is a great emotional leader and he's a mentor for a lot of players but just like you have guys who are deemed not coachable, there are guys who do not respond well to their peers trying to lead them in the right direction. Ray Lewis isnt god, he cant just snap his fingers and someone with a problem suddenly has the drive to overcome their problem. Until, Jones shows that he actually wants help and I am not convinced that he has, he's a lost cause.

Ok so now D. Mason and Ray Lewis are drug counselors. He may come to B-More and totally kick his habit and just turn to heroin, the drug of choice in B-More. Can you see Ray sitting up all night trying to talk Matt Jones out of getting high instead of studying game film? NO!

Pretty sure Ray Lewis has guys over for dinner regularly.

That's just what I thought. Baltimore is NOT the city for a guy who's struggling with those problems. Miami, I would stay away from as well. Tony Montana and all.

The sad thing is you cant name the amount of talented players that got caught up in drugs and legal issues and never made it and no one knows who they are so it wouldnt matter if i started naming people. There are probably thousands. Theres so many talented players that made terrible decisions and never made it. Let Matt Jones be one of those players that just fades into the sunset. He doesnt belong in Baltimore.

Wouldn't this be asking fro trouble?

The team did well last year and was pretty united in the task. Why bring in a guy who could disrupt the locker room by getting busted again? Plus, he was never that good to begin with. It may just be better to wait it out a bit and see who gets cut in the summer - someone better than Jones will IMO.

Really?! Another mediocre receiver. Why the hell does any player who is available get a freakin thread on here. Why the hell would we ever want a crappy receiver who along with that has had numerous drug problems.

Im saying he has more experience and catches than the 3 competing for the 3rd string slot...

What does Ray Lewis having dinner at his house have to do with someone having a drug problem? I have never been addicted to drugs but I have seen a few in passing in my life. I can see a crack head now, " Hmmmmm! Smoke some rocks or go to Ray's house for dinner" decisions decisions.
