What will be the cost if the Redskins lose a draft pick? A first? Because if all San Fran lost was a 5th for messing with Lance Briggs,I don't think they'll lose a high draft pick. And what where the Redskins thinking? If you knew the Titans weren't gonna pay 100 mil for one guy why would you try and rush him to getting a deal signed with your team?Personally,I blame Dan Snyder.

Perhaps because other teams, like the Bucs, were trying to get him too.

Everyone blames Dan Snyder and rightfully so.

It'll be interesting to see what comes of this.

Haynesworth going to a dead-end team with a horrible front office like the Redskins and the Titans being worse this year is just groovy with me.

Did anything ever happen with the Rams tampering with Jason Brown?

Ultimately, every team tampers. The thing is, it rarely gets investigated because no team wants to be the snitch and risk alienating themselves from the agents that have clients with other teams.

The act of tampering itself isn't always obvious. Sometimes, it's as minor as a lunch between old friends or a casual phone call or text message. Other times, it's as blatant as active negotiations between an agent and the front office. Either way, it's hard to provide substantial proof of tampering when all parties involved are careful about it.

Is it fair? No. But there's not much the league can do about it, and it's not something that always has as dramatic of an effect as people think. Sure, one transaction can cause a chain reaction throughout the league, but it's not as if teams automatically win championships just by landing a prized free agent. How often has the team who's dished out the largest payday (usually the Redskins) won a Super Bowl the following season?

I like the idea that's being proposed by the commissioner of imposing a preliminary free agency period where agents are allowed to negotiate deals out in the open, so as to gauge market value before free agency actually begins. This decreases the chance of a team overpaying for a player, while cutting down on the flurry of surprise midnight deals that we've seen the past few years.
