Which Qb Do You Think Will Struggle The Most Next Year?

26 posts in this topic

Topic says it all. I think Jason Campbell,if he can't make it to the playoffs after this year he'll be gone.

I will say Tom Brady because I consider struggle to mean they have to play up to past success and general consensus is that it takes two years to fully come back from an injury like that.

JaMarcus Russell. He's got Jeff Garcia breathing down his throat, he's got another new offense to learn, and he's got a new coaching staff around him. Not to mention his questionable offensive line and his lack of weapons surrounding him.

None of that is conducive for the success of a young QB.

I don't know about that. He played really well towards the end of last year. And he's got DHB and McFadden to throw to. Plus an impressive running game to take a safety away in pass defense. On paper, it looks like a tough offense to stop.
Of course, the game isn't played on paper, and this is the Raiders we're talking about.

Not only that, but NE has the 3rd hardest schedule (based on last years' records) in the NFL this season... after they had the easiest last year.

I hate to say this, and I hope it isnt true, but I think Jay Cutler could be in for a roller coaster season. Hes with a new system, no top wideouts, and is going to be asked to cut down on his decision making. He isn't going to be effective throwing 15 picks in Chicago because he probably isnt going to throw 30 TD's

I hope not, we'll see

That would be good news (to me at least) except for one thing. No matter how difficult the schedule is, the Pats just need to be better than the Bills, Fish, and Jets, which I don't think will be a huge problem for them.

I think that Jamarcus Russel will have a difficult year if for no other reason than the fact that his lousy team has a lousy schedule.

In my opinion, this is also good news since the Ravens play the Bears this season. A confused quarterback and a less than stellar defense are what I'm hoping for.

I think Jay Cutler is going to struggle. The system he ran with Shannahan is completely different than what the Bears run. There hole team is based on running the ball and not turning it over and playing good defense (similar to us). Jay Cutler has shown he is turnover prone and I think its going to hurt the Bears next year.

I am a little bit worried about Joe also. In the playoffs he didn't do so hot, he only completed 50% of his passes in 1 game. The Steelers seemed to confuse him big time in that game. Hopefully the offense will adjust and Joe will grow and mature.

Yeah there is always the threat of the dreaded sophomore slump, but really, the kid actually made it to playoffs, not many qbs can say that.

If not doing so well against the number one defense in the league is the worst you can say about him, then he'll probably be just fine.

Could it be his mediocre-at-best stats despite having great recievers?
The fact that the Redskins tried to get Cutler and wanted to trade up for Sanchez makes me think that you are not the only one with that opinion. The problem is that there is, apparently, no one better than him on the team.
Dirty Sanchez

Big city pressure + lack of weapons + lack of experience = Ouch
I honestly don't have anything against Mark Sanchez, but the fact that so many people think that the Jets are automatically going to do what the Ravens have done, makes me want him to fail.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say Tom Brady. Admittedly, there is a lot of wishful thinking here, but he hasn't played a full game since the Giants exposed him. I'm hopeful that the Phins, Bills and Jets are prepared to get in his face for six games this year. We shall see I guess.

I think Matt Staford because he was the first pick..Expectation and the amount he makes his real high....I think because his team is such a development project he may just get scrampled in the mess....

Lol all Culpepper has to do is win one game ane he's golden... a golden oldie that is, but it will still be an improvement. Josh Freeman may not even play next year. However, if he does start, you're probably right, he'll likely have a rough year.

XD That's about all that needs to be said. Even if he falls, he's not likely to fall so far as to be worse than any of the other guys mentioned here. The Pats last year (imho) showed that they don't have to have Brady at his best to win games... They do have a tough schedule though so hope springs eternal.

I'm kind of surprised that you would want him to do badly next season. You know that NE is playing the Ravens and not the Steelers this time around, right?

Matt Ryan. I don't know why- but I have a feeling he is going to pull a Brown's Anderson sophmore starting move. A big first year at start and a horrific sophmore starting year. He's been doing all those endorsements, magazine articles, told news reporters he hadn't touched a football for 3 1/2 months.... he isn't going to do well at all this season imo.

Yes, he did. But I assume you've looked at the Falcons schedule? It's a beast. And they didn't exactly have an extremely high ranking defense last year either.

Sophmore starting qb
Hard schedule
Mediocre defense
One of the youngest teams in the nfl

Their schedule last year was a .461 schedule, the 9th easiest. This year is .588, the 4th hardest.

They have one of the hardest stretches in the NFL... Dallas, Saints, Redskins, Panthers, Giants, Bucs, Eagles, Saints again.

So the Falcons will face the NFC East... interesting; I wonder if Matt Ryan will do as well against them as Joe Flacco did in his rookie year. Lol I can see the Eagles and Cowboys eating him alive.

Exactly. Everyone on nfl network, nfl.com, associated press, etc, etc, etc thinks Matt Ryan is the better quarterback and what have you. People seem to forget that Matt Ryan had one of the easiest schedules in the NFL whereas Flacco has one of the hardest (and both teams went 11-5). Now Ryan will have Flacco's freshman year schedule and Flacco will essentially have Ryan's freshman year schedule.

Let's see how Ryan does now ;)

I'll always cheer for the Ravens when they play the Pats. My dis-like for the Ravens comes from our rivalry (which I love). But when it's the Pats (and their fans) it's "Us (AFCN) versus them."

I'm not trying to be a blind homer (although I probably am) but at this point, I can't see the Falcons having anywhere near the success that the Ravens did with that schedule. You just can't expect a defense like Atlanta to even slow down offenses like the Eagles, Cowboys, G-men (heck, we couldn't even do it), and probably not even the Redskins. The Falcons did have a pretty good offense, but every one of the NFC East teams has an excellent defense which will probably shut down everything Atlanata brings to them. Now granted, I will admit that I'm looking at things through my purple tinted glasses, but still... it's going to be rough times for Atlanta nexts season.

Aww, you love to hate us. How sweet. Are you sure you don't cheer for us just because we are the "lesser of two evils" so to speak?

Lol at this point, I think its "Us (NFL) vs them."

But you are not the lesser of two evils as a division rival, are you. No, my hatred of the Patriots is older than the Ravens organization and goes hand-in-hand with my hatred of the Red Sox and all their fans.

What can I say about Ravens fans? I'm friendly with nearly every one of them I've encountered. I hate a Raven or two, but I like a couple players as well. I love the rivalry.

Btw Warden, which Ravens do you hate? :)
