Dumb Quotes

35 posts in this topic

We all know about James Harrisons remarks about the White House, but let's take a look back at some of the memorable staments that other players/coaches/announcers have made.

"I want to rush for 1,000 or 1,500 yards, whichever comes first."
-New Orleans Saint RB George Rogers

"You cannot change the stripes of a leopard." -Emmitt Smith

(Paraphase) I'm very excited to play for Cleveland. - Michael Oher

"Don't say I don't get along with my teammates. I just don't get along with some of the guys on the team."

Dude. You used them all already. <_<

God bless that man for having the sense of humor he did. That was definitely one of his best quotes.

With the exception of most QB's, it really doesn't matter. The majority of them just don't speak well. Even my beloved Hines Ward teeters on the edge of literate and not on occasion.

Not sure I see Ed Reed's as a dumb quote. maybe he did mean to say it was a blessing in the sky instead of a blessing in disguise.

Oh, he said it on purpose alright, but I'm pretty sure it's because he THOUGHT he was saying it correctly. What the heck is a blessing in "da sky" anyway??

It's like this: "When Kevin Kolb threw that ball on 2nd and inches; it just went flying throught the air. It was a blessing in the sky."

"I may be dumb, but I'm not stupid" -- Terry Bradshaw

And a little-known one that I've always remembered for its irony:

"It's a humbling thing, being humbled" -- Maurice Clarett (y'know...former Ohio State RB whose stock dropped so far that the Broncos drafted him at the bottom of the third round, only to cut him in camp, and then went to jail on a weapons charge)

Oh man I remember Maurice Clarett, wow talk about wasted talent. He went to jail a second time for trying to run from the cops after he made an illegal U-Turn.

From wikipedia:

As of 2009, Clarett is blogging about his life in prison on The Mind of Maurice Clarett daily; although he does not have internet access in the prison, he sends his entries to family members, who post them for him.

In a recent post, Clarett sums up his attitude by saying about prison by saying "Understand my struggle so you can respect my hustle. I am never coming back here, believe that. Never, I am cool on this. It is first-class living from the day I get out. I WILL NEVER SETTLE FOR LESS, EVER AGAIN. That goes for communication, personal relationships, housing, education, friendships, and travel arrangements. Everything. I have the fire in my eyes"

It's hilarious when criminals refer to the consequences of their criminal acts as a "struggle". Also funny that he's apparently learned nothing.

Oh btw, my wiki quote is my "Dumb Quote", so this is on-topic.

The football, just before Reed intercepts it.

I agree with whoever said that all of these quotes aren't dumb.
