If Ray Lewis had taught Ray Lewis, Ray Lewis might have ended up like Ray Lewis.

Gooden = ILB
McClain = OLB

Nuff said, after seeing the bullrush that Mcclain can put on the opposing team's offensive line i have no problem with the aboves setup.

McClain has an amazing rip move. He uses his hands very well when rushing the passer and he is so strong. His rip move is scary good and besides Trevor Pryce he is the only pass rusher we have that actually has a move. Unlike all the others who just try to run round them lol.

I really hope Gooden plays next to ray and McClain can start at LOLB and use his rip move and strength to our advantage. I have never seen Van De Steeg play, does any one know anything about his reportour of moves??
whoever is better for the job, thats all that matters
I would like Gooden though as mcClain is a terror rushing the passer so the more positons he knows the better as we can blitz him from anywhere

McClain and Gooden inside for a long time though IMO
I would really love to see McClain in the Middle with Gooden for a really long time, Gooden can be the Ray lewis, and McClain can be the other guy who takes on FBs, Pulling Lineman. Basically the guy who does the dirty work. Untill Ray retires Tavares is going to be doing the dirty work. He will have to hold a TE or a back. Take on FBs. things like that.

But to the thread. I think Gooden will be the better ILB, because he is our best cover LB. We really dont have a cover linebacker after AD Left. In college this guy covered TEs, and Backs like no other. He is so quick, and fast that he doesn't trail behind much. Dont forget last year we had to put Frank walker or A safety on a TE. This year we can just tell Tavares to take a guy, and hold him down. He has very very good hips, and he can drop back in zone as well. He hits hard! The only way an aspect i think McClain might be better is making Tackles for losses, and Sacks. Bart was a great TFL guy. He was also a great blitzer. McClain is an awesome Blitzer. But all in all i'll have to go with McClain. I'm so excited to see how good we can be with Gooden. It will only make us better.

I'd say that Gooden will win the battle simply because he also had a year playing inside in college his senior year at the U. McClain was almost exclusively a defensive end/ outside backer at Syracuse. Mattison is moving him to the inside because the staff feels he would work better there, but I dunno after the solid job he did in limited time last year as an outside linebacker. We will see I guess, but both should be seeing the game field a lot more this year.

Essentially our ILB's will be Ray Lewis's of young and old. SO much power brought by either one of them, I can't wait to see them demolish some Brownies or Bungles or Steelers (can't think of a clever pseudonym for them). No one is safe

I'd like to see Gooden step up and take over, mostly because of the fact that he was a 3rd round pick last year. Obviously, the FO planned for Ray Lewis or Bart Scott to leave and drafted Gooden, expecting him to start eventually.
