uhhhh i don't mean to cause arguements here, but ps3 kills with graphics..... 360 has the library and the online play.... and the wii...... is more for a family/party fun

therefore depending on which is more your style.... and for me that would be the 360, however i don't have anything wrong with the ps3 granted i've never played one

I only played XBOX live twice. Whats so much better about it? Keep inmind I only play sports games like Madden and MLB the show, so I dont see what you could do "better" about playing someone else over the internet.

I was thinking whether to buy a ps3 or xbox, but the ps3's versatility beyond gaming is what won me over.
im not sure what xbox has to offer other than gaming, but the ps3 has HDMI slot...that means the best possible graphics, it has mini-memory card slots to look at pictures/videos, you can watch blu-ray movies, you can put in music, and a bunch of other stuff...so yea, the ps3 in that sense is alot better.

1. The Ps2 has been around for a decade. Who doesn't have one by NOW?

it all comes down to what type of games you enjoy. the system that will be your favorite will have the titles that you wish to play. so no matter what points and facts you make it all comes down to what type of titles you like. for me ps3 is still lacking the titles that make me own my 360 and wii. i do plan on owning a ps3 but i wont pay any more for it than i paid for my 360.

plus it has better exclusives, free online, web browser, better looking game system, home and is reliable

The reason is, the original launch PS3 had hardware emulation for the PS2 (meaning there was essentially a PS2 inside the PS3), but that got to be too expensive so then they released models that had strictly software emulation (the 80gb that your friends confused for the new one), before getting rid of it altogether.

Getting rid of PS2 backwards-compatibility was a two-fold business move for Sony:
1) It made production of the PS3 cheaper
and
2) It allowed Sony to eventually introduce the STEEP price cut for the PS2 to $99, to milk it even more with a newer generation

Nowhere in the world did the PS2 outsell the PS3. Check the below link; it wont format correctly so I cant paste the chart.

As a company Sony sold over 31 million units worldwide, opposed to x-box's 11 million.

The important thing to realize here is that the ps3 has more staying power than any other console. It was built future proof. I predict another price drop sometime this year and ps3 sales will go crazy as the number of Hd flat screens also increase.

Keep in mind that the new generation hardware battle between blu-ray and HD-DVD, in which Hd-dvd conceded, was decided only 4 short months ago. The ps3 is just getting started.
