The concept of a Roost or Ravens Nest is about the same-to support the Baltimore Ravens and also support efforts in that Roost or Nests communities that they represent.

For more information about the Ravens Roosts go to http://www.councilrr.com

For information about the Ravens Nests go to http://www.ravensnests.com

The Ravens Nests split from the Ravens Roosts in 1999 over some philosophical differences.

Most Roosts are taking new members and so is most Nests except Nest 1 which is full.

Hope this helps.

Try calling the Nest hotline at 410-879-NEST (6378) and see if they will call you back. The website is messed up and is on their 5th webmaster. IMHO, they ought to start from scratch again and build a new one.

The Council of Baltimore Ravens Roosts are the decendent of the old Colts Corral fan clubs, the Chamber of Baltimore Ravens Nests split off from the Roosts in 1999 after some philosphical differences. Both groups have chapters, the Roost have 54, the Nests have 20. There is one difference and that the Ravens Nests have associate nests such as Nest 4 Berlin and Nest 5 Richmond, VA and Nest 12-Hagerstown Tri State. Those Nests are more than 50 miles from Baltimore. Both the Roosts and the Nests are also into fundraising for various community causes and both have a minimum of 25 people over 21 to start a Roost or a Nest. Both groups have events in Ocean City the weekend after Memorial Day. The Roosts with their annual convention and parade based on a theme and the Nest have the annual OC Rave.

Just curious if anyone knows what some of the "philosophical differences" are or were? I'm looking into joinging a roost or a nest and I was just wondering if there is much of a difference in what I choose? Any thoughts on the subject? I just want to pick what would be best for me. Thanks in advace for any input!

Some of the former Roosts such as the one I was with in Bowie, our President was not allowed to speak at a Council of Ravens Roosts meeting. The last straw for us was the 2000 Convention in Ocean City with the float competition judging being held up. We at the Bowie Roost all walked out of the convention center yelling something I can't say on this board. We all voted to join the Nest. I'm with this one because its the nearest Ravens fan club to my house (25 miles). There are some similarities between the two groups and some differences. For example the Roosts are the decedents of the Old Baltimore Colt Corrals, going back to 1957 in fact most of the Corrals stayed together when the Colts left town in 1984 and became Ravens Roosts when the Ravens were established in 1996. Both groups support Pro Football in Baltimore and raise funds for causes in their local communities.

Thanks for the input! I think one of the "nests" near where I work is actually the most convenient for me at the moment. Both organizations seem like a lot of fun.
