About Trevor Pryce. Have A Question Reguarding His Situation.

20 posts in this topic

I do not simply understand why it will take Pryce 3-4 weeks until he can play with a broken wrist. Players used to always play with casts on and such is their a new rule I do not know about that allows players to not be able to play with a cast on their wrist!?. If there is that is stupid it's not like they can hurt anyone with all the gear they wear etc.. from Helmets to cheat gear the whole works. Plus getting hit with a cast doesn't really hurt to much. So if someone can help me figure this out I would appreciate it thanks. Unless they are taking extra precaution which wouldn't make sense a cast will protect his fracture.

I think they can play with a SOFT cast, but not a hard one. Since he just had surgery, he's probably 1) in a lot of pain and 2) wearing a hard cast.

i supposed that he could continue to play even with a cast (Ray did it a few times in the past) but i think that Billick is making a smart decsion simply because seeing how Pryce is a big part of our defense, Billick just wants him back on the field as 100 percent healthy and not 80-85 percent and wearing a cast with a broken wrist, its ALWAYS better to have a healthy player on the field and than an Injured player...i think Steve McNair said it best last week after the game in an interview...." I think a healthy Kyle Boller is Alot better than an Injured Steve McNair "...and our defense ( i would expect) should do fine, with all the other playmake players our there on the field making plays, our defense should be fine..then when Pryce is 100 percent he can get back on the field

I say give PRYCE a 5mg or 10mg percocet(which I am sure that is what they gave him, almost positive) & stick him in the GAME!! maybe not next week but the week after and let him play he will be more then fine and even if he isn't 100% he will be better then the guy taking his spot. I don't want to see us fall to 1-4 by the time he comes back, he is a HUGE piece of our puzzle here and a cast on his wrist playing with a painkiller will be plenty fine if he is man ENOUGH, like a lot of players use to always do in the old days!!. Now football is becoming all soft.

lol definatley not 1-4 haha that will never happen with our defense, i mean we have play makers all over on defense, it just isnt one player like Pryce, yes we need him in there, but our defense is a TEAM unit, a total Destruction and havoc causer on offense for opposing teams, we have Ray, Reed, Laundry, McCalister, Suggs, Ngata, and a buch of others that contribute to the havoc for opposing offenses...PLUS we have the depth at each position that if a starter goes down, we have a back up player in which can immediately step in and be a play maker

Have you ever had pins? They are usually in for 2 to 3 weeks with a soft cast and the are about the size of crochet hooks, its not just a pain issue, its a safety issue and pins are also an infection risk.

I do not think the trainers would give a player percocet and send them into a game since he needs his split second timing and ability to think clearly. Pain is your body's way of telling you something is wrong.

yes we need him in there but the beautiful thing about this defense is its versatility which Ryan stresses over and over. Im more worried about putting up points than preventing them.

It's still early in the season though, if you force Trevor to play early he may be dealing with the injury all season long - might as well get him all healed up for the tough 2nd half of our schedule.

I told you in the other thread that he would be out, its a typical injury you don't want to make it worse. PLus its better to have him in that stretch against Steelers, Bengals, Pat, Chargers, Colts and the like.

agreed, its ALWAYS a great thing to have not only some of your starters in but ALL of your starters in and healthy, playing in the long run, an example would be when we face the Chargers, Patriots, and Colts...all of which will be very important games......(the colts game, we'll have added motivation in that one, we for sure wont let it happen to us again.....) we'll be bringing EVERYTHING we have in all of those games and a lil extra....

lol do i sense a lil doubt? and as i said before...it'll be a GREAT thing to have ALL of our Starters in at that point in time, besides the Chargers were SUPPOSED to be this big Offensive threat and all this Blah blah blah...and look where they're at, The Colts game, We'll all be gunning for them in that game.....the Ravens are Determined not to let the same thing happen to them again....AND the Patriots are not invincible....they have also had their challenges....and either way they'll lose draft picks...Besides the fact that there are alot of Good teams out there right now, sitting at 0-2 (play off teams last year) and alot of 2-0 this year that won their games by luck and what not....so with about at LEAST Several Play off teams last year struggling and some added challenges for others...i think we are doing just fine....BRING ON SUNDAY!

They are top four teams now but that doesn't mean they will be in a month or so...and plus it's a perfect time for you to jump off the bandwagon again.

It's not a simple as "he can just wear a cast and play" there are different varieties of breaks and fractures. I'm sure Trevor will get on the field when he's ready

If pryce can play in a cast, yay, but what happens when a 300 pound lineman falls on it? Much better to play it safe so he's healed up for the latter, more difficult part of the season (especially that ridiculous chargers/colts/pats stretch).

HIGHlarious this Reed4Pres kid is!!!

Now he's a pharmacist/doctor. Excellent!

btw, the wrist is connected to the HAND.... and when the HANDS are used (like a defensive lineman), the wrist is aggravated.

i would expect that when Pryce returns and is fully healthy and back on the football field, i would expect his wrist to be more stronger and more durable than it was before (after you break a bone in your body, when it heals over, it becomes stronger than it was before)...so i would expect Pryce to be back in the starting line-up "ready to go" and to continue being a force on Defense!
