Try your local McDonald's,sucky job but pays good for teenagers.
I was just about to suggest that. I'm being serious when I say this, but at your age, McDonald's isn't as bad as it sounds because, compared to the other fast-food chains, McDonald's (most of the ones I know of, anyway) is pretty serious about building job skills that you can apply elsewhere. Mostly stuff like time management, team-building, leadership, customer service...things that you don't see at first glance, but realize you learn later.

Plus, weird as it sounds, McDonald's actually has advancement opportunities within the restaurant.

I've never worked at McDonald's, but I've had friends who have, and they've all told me that it's not so bad. Doesn't mean I'm not happy with my current job, though. ;)

I am opening a really nice restaurant downtown next month and will be hiring. I am sure some ravens and O's will eventually come through to eat.

My son and his friends can't even depend on McDonalds, they are getting like 10 hrs a week. My husband is a computer consultant and has a side business that my 16 yo will be running this year along with being a nanny for my cousin's daughter. My cousin pays 10 bucks an hour.

This is a rough year for a teenager looking for a summer job.

If any of you live in the range of Patapsco State Park, they hire seasonal help. The economy was awful when I was 16 and thats where I ended up--I had a blast.

stay away from work as long as you can.. the economy is a good excuse for you to be lazy all summer... as happy gilmore would say.. "CHERISH ITTTT!!!" working 40 hours a week is zero fun sir, but hey, college aint cheap

uhm i don't mean to dampen your hopes, but there might be very little jobs open in the sports arena, w/o some kind of a degree

i used to work at mcdonalds, and thought it was gonna blow, it was actually one of the funnest jobs i had, the managers and employees i worked with were pretty much all chill as hell (you can't say all, cause your always going to have that one ****head)

Man, I'm almost 20 and in college and I can't find a job. I've applied everywhere and even lowering myself to fast food and I can't get a damn callback. It really annoys me because at least here, they bring in all these rich Russians to work at the strip, while I can't find a job. At least bring over some poor Russians who need the money haha.

Now is NOT the time to be picky. People of every age and skill level are clamoring for jobs reguardelss of pay.

If you want to make money, not good money, ANY money take what ever you can get. Just remember, you can always look for another job wile you have that job.

Not sure what it pays, but what about working for a landscaper? I'm sure you would mostly mow lawns, but you could develop a rapport with the owner (seasonal work next year too) and learn a thing or two that will definitely come in handy down the road. Just a thought.

Plus, I can pick you brain once you got hired.

You could try getting a job at a golf course. I worked at one and took care of getting the carts ready, cleaning clubs and keeping the driving range clean and supplied with balls. The pay wasn't that great but I made descent tips which made up for it. I also got to go to the driving range for free all the time which was pretty fun...

That's another good idea. Plus, working in a nice park setting is good for the ole morale!

It is pretty nice if you don't mind getting up very early. I worked as a greenskeeper for a season back when I was in college. You get to drive tractors and other neat vehicles, learn to fix sprinkler systems, repair greens and tees and you don't have to do any actual work when it rains hard. The only real hazard is when some idiot decides to tee off while you're cutting fairways.
