I work at a chevy dealer and we're all sweating whether or not we will be axed. Really sucky thing it is. Its getting out of the corporate arena and I see more coming

I live in Randallstown and Antwerpen Dodge and Chevy on Liberty Rd. are out of business. I drove by a couple of weeks ago both were open, now both lots are completely empty.

Yeah, we knew about that a long time ago. They closed those places before CHrysler or GM had a chance to shut em down.

S&S dodge in Bel Air and Towson are closing.
Heritage Jeep is closing.
S&S Pontiac Buick GMC is closing.
I work at Bob Bell Chevy in Eastpoint... Supposedly they arent "closing" cuz they still have Nissan and Kia, but they will lose the Chevy franchise in 18months.
I think it's hysterical that they declare bankruptcy, but have enough money to buy advertising at prime time.
Duh...More advertising + Less competition = more $$$$$$$$$$

Thats the real answer you dont get out of the CEOs. Everyone argues that it costs the manufacturers nothing to keep a dealership open, but the true cost is slashed profit due to competition. That means, competition in parts, service, and especially sales. If you have to drive 20 minutes to buy a chevy or dodge as opposed to having 3 within 5 minutes of you then the theory is you will be more inclined to buy there and not drive an hour away to attempt to get a better deal and manufacturers wont have to offer so many incentives.

Penske Automotive Group is buying Saturn from GM and it looks like Saturn of Gaithersburg is staying open, hopefully Penske will get Saturn back to their roots as I would like to keep my 1996 SL2 running for 15 years. I just hope I can get parts for my Saturn. I hope Penske is committed to the Saturn brand and does not make the same mistake it did when it bought K Mart Auto Service.

Not really 18months. I highly doubt we will keep chevy until the very end. And at minimum, once the general public finds out, it will be very dead here. Lucky for me Im the most highly trained and certified in this shop of 20+ so I shouldnt have a hard time finding a new job.

As for the Chrysler thing, I highly doubt it. They'll have an easy time selling cars off the dealers that arent closing for 20-30% off. No need to give cars away. And I know that banks are only willing to finance up to 70% on any chrysler product, I suppose due to perceived decreased value.
