Kevin Smith Is Actually Really Good In Madden

4 posts in this topic

I was playing Madden 09 and I was the Bills playing against the Lions on All-MAdden. So I blow up the Lions Secondary with James Hardy (post routes are insane) and score a td.Kick it off and Lions have the ball. They throw it and I get an INT with Donte Whitner. So then I bomb it 90 yards to Lee Evans for a td and the extra point. Bills 14 Lions 0. Okay now its the second quarter and all the lions do is hand it off to Kevin Smith! This kids moves so quick beyond what was supposedly the wort o-line last year! HE was shaking and baking me off and getting 10 yards every down!

So do you guys have a hard time playing against Kevin Smith or Not? State your opinions.

I enjoy playing the role of a GM in Madden.. I like to simulate(and play a game or two a season) and fix my team where there are holes.. Kevin Smith always seems to be among the top 10 and sometime even top 5 in rushing yards when i simulate.. Playing him, he is tough though.. I normally use my FS in Madden, so i normally stop the run pretty well, but Jones is an animal..

I have no problems with stopping Kevin Smith for the most part, but you're right, he's great when you actually USE him. He's the only reason I'm ever able to win with the Lions...

Speaking of surprisingly good RBs in Madden, Steve Slaton plays almost as well in the game as he does in real life -- possibly even better. I traded for him to back up McGahee (after picking up Clinton Portis in free agency, and that experiment wasn't so hot after two seasons), and now I have a much easier time running the ball than before.

At first, I thought it was 'cause Slaton already had a couple seasons under his belt in my franchise mode, but I experimented and played with the Texans in a regular game, and Slaton was ON FIRE when I played against the Pats. I then tried again against the Steelers and got off to a slow start, but he came through in the second half.

Slaton doesn't have the best stats in the game, but it's almost as if he has a magical combination of stats that make him play better than his overall rating and offensive line should allow.

Doesn't the new Madden game have a new feature called "momentum mode" ? I heard that once you start putting up some good stats in the game, you start to catch fire.
