So Tired Of Suggs

79 posts in this topic

I am so sick of Suggs. I am not sure what he expects. The team offers him some decent money and he refuses to accept the offers so we franchise him and he still doesnt respond. Nor does he show for practice. I would not mind the ravens letting him go. See just what he can get outside the ravens walls. Let a player who wants to play take his spot. He is not the only player with his skill set. It would make my day if when i read the paper in the morning it reads Suggs no longer a raven. And Oz asks his unsatisfied arse to simply leave because there are guys who want to lay.

I'm not sure how we can comment on this because we don't know all the facts and what goes on behind closed doors! Anything we think about the situation is pure speculation. And him not turning up for practice is not a big concern, he did the same last season!

There's an article on the situation on BR.com
He can't show up for practice becaue he is currently not a member of the team (technically)
Suggs can practice whenever he wants because he can sign his tender whenever he wants. He is the one preventing himself from not being a member of the team.
He did the same thing last year because he didn't want to risk injury at mini camp for a 1 year contract. Suggs is waiting to sign the tender purposely, so he doesn't have to attend mandatory mini camp. I see his logic, but its not like there isn't a long term deal on the table for him. Ozzie has been offering deals for two years and nothing seems to be good enough for suggs. I think suggs is an elite player and I just wish he would take a hometown discount like he said he would.

The bigger picture is Suggs is highly coveted, elite player in his prime, who has a contract for one year. Why would he risk a career or season ending injury at minicamp? especially when its not compulsory?

Players hold out and this is ultimately a business. Get over yourselves.

Actually this is a mandatory mini camp.

this is sort of a repeat from last year...we're probably gonna lock him up long term pretty soon, probably not gonna trade him. I guess the ravens are working on negotiations and a good deal or something of the sort.

This Terrell "Hometown Discount" Suggs drama has gone on for far too long. Three years of pointless negotiations and here we are stuck with an unsigned tender and an unsigned long term contract still sitting on the table. It should be apparent to everyone by now that Suggs is a me-first player who thinks he's bigger than the team. I love Suggs but I think it's time to cut him and his huge ego loose via trade once he signs his franchise tender.

I agree. I hope we dont release him but if we cant get him to sign a long term deal, we can convince him to sign the tender and trade him. If people want to give us a 1st round, im cool with that.

But there is a lot we dont know about. Like how agents treat players like children and do all the talking and tell them what to do.

Suggs is no dummy or five year old. If he really wanted to sign on with the Ravens, he'd pick up the phone and tell his agent to close the deal.

What are you even talking about?
Stop with this Hometown Discount nonsense already. He said that when free agency began, when Scott was still on the team. In order to keep all 3 linebackers together. Ray Lewis didn't care, he wasn't going to take less money. Bart Scott didn't care either, he signed a huge contract with somebody else. The Hometown Discount is over with. It doesn't exist anymore. Suggs even said that during an interview in response to Ray's comments, that he doesn't play less.

Everyone is on their own when it comes to money, that's what Suggs learned and he's doing it right now. Everyone else took whatever they could, now don't expect Suggs to just sign a "decent" contract. You can offer guys like Chris Carr a decent contract. Suggs is an All Pro, he's looking for a big payday. Don't act like you'd just leave millions on the table if you were in his situation, that's pretty hypocrite.

Every year a player is forced to sign the franchise tag is it high risk for them, if they get injured it affects their market value in the future.

The reason he still didnt sign his tender is because his agent is still negotiating a long term deal. And secondly why are you blaming suggs? he just wants to be payed. PLUS how do you know its a decent offer?? OHHHH and why would we let him go??? THis is a "NOT so smart" question.

Oh my God Suggs did exactly what he was expected to do let's make a thread.

He's trying to get a deal done, he's not going to sign a contract he's not satisfied with so that you won't think he's selfish. That's very selfish of you to expect him to do that.

Mandatory for members of the team. He has not signed the tender, so it is not mandatory for him to attend. There are no fines or reprecussions b/c there is no contract to apply any punishments against

You don't win games by releasing your young talented football players. Suggs is the best run stopping OLB in the league, he can do whatever he likes as long as he plays hard on Sundays.

Highlighted a word there. Since he has not signed his tender, he is not on the team and it would be close to stupid for him to attend. What if he got hurt? He'd be totally shafted.

Enough with the excuses. This is "Hometown Discount" Suggs' second year staying out of camp by refusing to sign a tender and the 3rd year of negotiating either an extention or new contract. It's just too much drama sourrounding just one player. The tender is on the table, the contract is on the table, the F.O. has done its' job, the ball is in Sugg's court. Does he really want to be a Baltimore Raven or does he want to be just another prima donna by holding the club hostage to his contract demands?

Lol. If your boss wanted you to sign a contract to take 75% of what youre currently making/worth, would you sign it to be a team player?

Now that's really dumb. We're negotiating raises here not a cut in salary. And were I in the circumstance of having the option of signing a 1 year deal with a signifigant raise or signing a long term contract with a signifigant bump in salary over a number of years, I most certainly would not hold my employer nor fellow emplyees hostage to my salary demands for 3.. count 'em 3 consecutive years. Give up, your stand is indefensible.

The only thing that bothers me a little is the fact that out of the 3 LB's we had to resign, he was the one talking about a discount. :o

good point, it was ray that played hardball in the begininning. I think if ray would've got on board early all three would've signed for a little less.

YEAH! LET'S GET RID OF SUGGS! HE'S JUST A BIG BABY!

This is the ORDINARY in the NFL, not the exception! Every player on every team does this. Please stop acting like this is anything new. This isn't even exclusive to football!

And let me ask a quick question to all those so "fed up with Suggs." Do you WANT to beat Pittsburgh? Do you? Because in my opinion, Suggs was one of the only players who actually shows up to play against them. And he shows up even if he's hurt and playing with one arm. Oh, and for those who actually come to the games... name a person who interacts with the fans more than Suggs. He's right up there with Ray Lewis and Daniel Wilcox as the most interactive. He's always trying to keep the fans in it. He's a great guy. We need MORE players like Terrell, not less.

Is it "ordinary" to have to tag a guy three times?

Personally I want to keep Suggs, but if he's not going to sign on long term then I think we should trade him while we still can.

This is still only his second tag. We tagged C-Mac twice before working out a long-term contract with him. This is not unusual. It happens on lots of teams.

suggs def earned his contract and idk why the fo didnt get it done but suggs also has to give us some slack to cuz hes really not worth freeny money yet but his time is coming and i think his best years are yet to come so they both have to see whats best for us n suggs and get the deal done or package suggs in a deal for a big wr but you cant point the finger at one person in this situation.

Do not forget he played hurt as well. I am not in the business of calling people retarted but any one who would get rid of Suggs rightly deserves the title. PAY THE MAN AND MOVE ON.
