Darnell Dockett Requests Trade

27 posts in this topic

I was watching ESPN this morning and saw that Darnell Dockett requested a trade from the Cardinals. I don't know if it's true or not.

What you guy's think? Would YOU go for him?

I believe that Darnell Dockett had hinted at this awhile ago, but I guess this is the first public confirmation that he's wanted out. It's mostly about money, so it wouldn't surprise me if he's still a Cardinal by Week 1.

I like the guy, but I wouldn't make a hard push to go for him. Not right now. If this were during free agency and before the draft, then sure. But as of right now, no immediate need for him. If he wants out because of money, we're sure as hell not going to be the ones to give it to him.

i played against Dockett in HS. he is an ANIMAL, but i think he would want to much money and since Ngata is due for a contract in the next year, thats where we have to spend the $$. but he would be a DOMINATE DE for us!!!

Wow, I'm starting to wonder about these guys. I like money, too, but if someone would give me a few million, after that, I would have other priorities - like sticking with a team that made it to the SuperBowl...

Me too, i mean Albert Haynesworth i think has no clue now what he should do with his money he has way too much

I really like this guy but im not sure if hes playing that good in a 34 defense, i think it takes much of his pass rushing skills away

The owner is super cheap. The Cards are routinely ranked in the bottom for front-office/ownership year after year.

They just made it to the superbowl, so they all are seeing dollar signs. Plus, with all the huge contracts that were dished out in free agency, they feel they need to renegotiate their contracts to cash in an all the money being dealt out.

I think the Ravens will wait until the new CBA is agreed on, because word is rookie salaries will be slotted much lower, allowing for more money to be spent signing/retaining free agents.

If 2010 is an uncapped year than there are two Franchise tags available for each team. (Suggs again, Ngata)?

Dockett is a good player, but i'm not sure he's a solid stack and shed guy who can take up two blockers. more of a one gap penetrator type.

Whats up with this crap. Every time some good player says he wants out people jump on it and ask this question. Why would we want Dockett? Oh and to answer the question the reason we should not get him is because he is expensive and we are set at DL.

1) Because people are bored; and 2) because we're not used to going into a new season with the majority of the roster set at each position, after having come off a solid playoff season.

That's not necessarily a bad thing. Better for us to be bored, than to be all uppity like, "OMG, what are we gonna do?!? We're gonna suck! NOOOOOO!" or wonder constantly who we're gonna get to replace so-and-so (with the exception of WR...but for a run-first team, another season without a superstar WR is whatever).

After 2006, people were still concerned about the QB issue because of McNair, as well as the RB situation without Jamal Lewis. After 2003, people were concerned about the QB position even though Kyle Boller showed flashes of potential before getting hurt.

It's a new thing, to not really have to worry about any one position even after a winning season. Hopefully, we can get used to it. Plus, people are so starved for a big splash in the offseason because, let's face it, it's "boring" in the offseason to see almost the same exact team take the field as the year before. But, if "boring" means winning again, then so be it.

I get your point but people like Darnell Dockett have a 0.1 % chance of playing in baltimore. This is not a WR or even a corner we are talking about. Sometimes it doesnt make sence to mention these guys on the front page. Its like mentioning Derek Anderson or Brady Quin or even ....... you get my point.

Or some people think we need receiver help for Mason. Don't have toggle-switch mentality.

id take him, he is a great pass rusher and with him and Ngata inside on 4-3 downs and him rushing from the 3-4 end spot we would be a very scary pass rush

Id tarde our 2nd round pick next year for him

Little to no chance of happening, but man it would be cool. Guy's probably the top interior pass rusher in the game right now. I love Haloti but I don't think he'll ever become a great pass rusher. Hopefully, he proves me wrong for the next decade.

Dockett actually lined up at LE most of the season, not many people know that though <_< . To be fair he plays all over the line though. Also Kevin Williams, Albert Haynseworth, Jay Ratliff, Brandon Mebane, Marcus Stroud etc. would like to have a word with you about being the "top interior pass rusher".

I don't see why we'd need him, we have decent depth and starters the only thing we don't have is the money and roster spots.

We dont need him, but in our system he would look similar to Trevor Pryce but without decline in ability attributed to age.

Eh, I doubt Dockett has the strength to be succesful as a 34 end. Guess we'll never know though.

Why are we always linked to guys looking for a big contract? We can't even pay our own players. Dockett is a great player though, but too greedy.

Yeah but his commercial on espn was funny. But then again he wasnt funny in the commercial. So that doesnt really count. He is still an s-bag until he is funny in an espn commercial imo

Guy's 290, and it's muscle.
He's plenty big to play 3-4 DE.

I think he could be the Pryce of two years ago. He was a 3-4 end but he was still getting to the quarterback aswell as anyone else. He has the size and ability to stop the run, but I'd question his desire in that area. But by the same token I've seen him make some really impressive tackles for losses. He basically won the playoff game against ATL with one amazing play where he burst right through the line and he got to Ryan before Ryan had even handed the ball to Turner. Ryan coughs it up. Game Arizona.

But, even though he's one of my favourite players in the league, we don't have the money to sign him without seriously comprimising out capacity to resign our own players. So for now, it's a pass (Unless he'll take some hometown discount, or maybe a Suggs for Dockett + picks sort of deal)
