Most Heartbreaking Losses, And Most Triumphant Wins

71 posts in this topic

As a die-hard fan of a professional sports team, u are going to go through some awesome wins, and very dissapointing losses. as Ravens fans over the years, what has been the most heartbreaking loss, and the most triumphant win for you? Heres mine:

Most heartbreaking loss:

For me this came down to two. The second game vs. Pittsburgh this season or this magical Monday Night that came to a terrible ending and i chose........

December 3, 2007

Patriots 27 Ravens 24

Wow. What an amazing night. 70,000+ packed M&T Bank Stadium as the Ravens attempted to black out Tom Brady and the 11-0?? New England Patriots. The Ravens led most of the night and i was more excited than ever. But, at the end of the game it seemed as though nothing was going to stop New England from going undefeated as the refs were giving the Patriots EVERY call possible!! Jabar Gaffney makes the game winning TD "catch" and New England barely escapes with a win for the second straight week. IM still thoroughly pissed off about this game.

Most triumphant victory:

January 10, 2009

Ravens 13 Titans 10

I didn't become a football fan until 03 or 04 so i didnt witness the Super Bowl XXXV victory. So when we, after being outplayed by the Titans in almost every phase of the game besides turnovers, beat the titans and secured a spot in the AFC Championship game, i was more excited than i probably ever was in my entire life. SOO EXCITING!! I cant wait to go even farther this year!!

the next time we throw a hail mary we have to put gaither at WR and let him run, throw the ball to him and then he will catch the ball cause hes 20 times bigger as those little safeties and corners lol :D

Theres been a few but the one that sticks out in my mind the most to me personally was the game this past year in Bmore against Pittsburgh. The lady in front of me was literally in tears when the game ended.

I didn't see the Pats game, but the Titans game was so intense: Chris Johnson stopping all over us, the defense trying to break him, Flacco nearly getting a safety, the playclock controversy, Heap's catch, and of course Matt Stover's winning (last?) kick. Good game.

When Polamalu picked Flacco in the AFC Conference after the Ravens had come back from being 13 points down to being just two, that was pretty rough. It has to be my most heartbreaking moment in all my year of watching football.

I think that game against Cleveland, last year, when it hit the bar and came back was heartbreaking. It was after we lost terribly to Cincy and it was supposed to lift the Ravens spirits because we beat a divisional opponent but it was called back when all the Ravens were already in the locker room. Then we ended up losing the game... <_<

Last year was just ugh. I dunno if the lost against Pitt last year when Bradshaw and all the other former steelers were badtalking us on national TV as we got raped in the passing game by Roffleburger of all people, in the rain, as our season went down the drain. or the BS 4 or 5 calls on 4th down against the Patriots....

On a lighter note, the Dallas game was pretty awesome, and two years back when we crushed the steelers @ M&T and shut them out. Or crushing the 15-1 2004 steelers for their only loss

yep. it was bad. the only good thing about 07 was how much of a beast Willis McGahee was. especially against New England

The official ruling on the field was that it didn't go into the posts but actually it hit the bar and came back out so it was ruled a field goal which meant Cleveland was able to tie the game and the game went to Overtime, and then they scored another field goal and won.

It wasn't Banks....it was Anthony Wright. Banks was already gone by then. The game went into overtime. Great game.

That win, the first Jax game of 2000, and the SB xxxv have to go down as the most triumphant wins.
I'd also have to mention shutting out the Steelers 27-0 in Baltimore was pretty sweet in 2006...loudest crowd I can recall.

As for heartbreaking losses....The one where we were beating the Bengals 20-3 into the fourth quarter(IIRC) and Palmer threw 2 or three td's late in the game to win for the Bengals....the Steelers games last season...all of them

Those Steeler games hurt badly, Id rather get a beating and know its over than lose in the last minute because of a mistake.

Yeah, Boller played his heart out in that game. Officiating made me want to vomit. Awful, we should have won - but Bart Scott had his meltdown
