Larry Foote

Looks like the steelers are strapped for cash. They had to cut starting LB Larry Foote to free up some cap space. Most believe that Lawrence Timmons will take his place in the starting lineup.

Pittsburgh just released Larry Foote in order to clear extra cap space. I know he's a Steeler (or use to be) but...he is a pretty good 3-4 ILB. So, since we have a ? at 1 of the ILB positions, should we be interested? He's also a fan favorite in Pittsburgh... ;) I know at first your gut will say HELL NO! Once a steeler always a steeler...but how fun would it be to sign Foote just to spite steeler fans?

Imagine Bart Scott signing with Pittsburgh...

I think that they were involved in one of the biggest position battles last pre-season. So it makes sense that Timmons would replace him.

It wouldn't be fun. At all. Not even a little bit.

wow this doesnt happen to often but i agree with u ravensiq, he is a good linebacker, unless we want to try a inexperienced guy at lb i think we should sign foote, cheap of course, let gooden and everyone else learn from him and ray a little more switching time in and out... heck foote might want sweet revenge on the steelers for cutting him also

Is he really that much better than Gooden or McClain for us to pay him a few million dollars to play for us? I dont think there is that big of a difference. IMO I would stick with Gooden and McClain

Foote is ok. Nothing amazing. I wouldn't exactly call him a fan favorite in Pittsburgh. Foote was drafted for depth and became a decent starter for five years. Last year he had a down year and they have a Timmons groomed to replace him. It's typical Lion King circle of life stuff for the Steelers. Nate Washington morphed into Limas Sweed and Larry Foote transformed into Lawrence Timmons. Do you think the Steelers are better or worse for the changes? I'm of the mindset that Sweed/Timmons is much better than Washington/Foote.

Foote may end up with his hometown Lions. We certainly don't need him. It would just hinder the progression of our young guys. Now if Ray goes down, having an experienced 3-4 MLB on speed dial might be a good thing. But for now we do not need him.

Foote wants to play for the LIONS...He literally wants to go from first to worst. I hope the lions turn him down just to see a steeler get rejected by an 0-16 garbage team.

I know agreeing with logic maybe hard at times for you two, but I'm glad you guys are finally starting to show signs of improvement.

Now if I can only convince you to stop licking brick walls...
