Eron Riley was a player who was definitely under the radar until he reportedly ran the 40-yard dash at his Pro Day in 4.27 seconds and 4.36 seconds. And he further raised the eyebrows of scouts and coaches when he logged a 40-inch vertical jump.

"I really wanted to prove that I could run that fast, because I don't think scouts felt that I had top end speed," Riley said during a phone interview.

The Duke wide receiver certainly has the physical size to play in the NFL at 6-foot-3, 206 pounds. And with his speed, he's likely to get an opportunity to make an NFL roster in a training camp this year. The Indianapolis Colts, New Orleans Saints, Arizona Cardinals, Denver Broncos, New York Giants and the Tennessee Titans are among the teams that have shown interest in him.

"I think my size and my speed are going to give me the opportunity to make some big plays at the next level," he said. "I think I also demonstrated my toughness. I tore a ligament in my thumb and I played through that injury the whole season."

Riley believes he can put his skills to work right off the bat to the benefit of an NFL club on their special teams units.

"I was a gunner and a jammer the last two years," he said. "I really enjoy it because you're out there one-on-one or one-on-two, and I like being

Riley sucks he ain't no answer, don't have to talk about that guy... Yo, the best receivers were taken early that's it ! now we gotta deal with our great wr crew, Mason Clayton Williams and Smith which i'm happy about !! a one year contract to Marvin Harrison would be a plus, but it ain't Eron Riley, he's not even worth Figurs coz YAH MAN 's got two years in the league now...
I have high hopes for this guy..
Yes, I do too. I think we may have gotten a good steal. At the price he'll cost the Ravens to sign him, he's worth it guys/gals. So let's be positive that he may come in and make an impact.

Not, I like Yamon, but given what he did last year, he may not last this go-round. I also want to see what we get out of the two WR's we drafted last year. Only time will tell, but if Riley is a guy that has a bit of speed, can go over the middle, and not drop the ball when hit hard in the AFC North, then he's going to make a good Raven. :)

So I just read on the baltimoresun forum that we signed a duke WR named Eron Riley as an undrafted FA. here's the post:

"We just signed him, found this on another board...

WR Eron Riley, Duke (6-3, 206)

Riley hasn't received much attention as an NFL prospect coming from Duke, where the football team was 6-41 during his four years on campus. Despite that, he put up some impressive stats the past three years, catching 133 balls for 2,166 yards and 20 touchdowns. But it wasn't until the Duke pro day that Riley really started to create some noise. He blistered his 40 in a time of 4.29 seconds and recorded a 40-inch vertical and an 11-foot, 2-inch broad jump. Duke's struggling pass offense may have masked some of Riley

just cause he runs a 4.29 doesnt make him gem, especially after no one drafted him. We got yaman figures who runs a 4.30 and he atleast got drafted in the 3rd round but i have yet to see crap from him.

The 4.36 came from his Pro Day workout at Duke; he wasn't invited to the scouting combine, hence there being no "official" 40-time posted anywhere on NFL.com.

The 4.36 is the closest "official" 40-time we have. I think the 4.61 came from this formula that I read about in an article, talking about the accuracy of 40-times and how the acceptable standard for converting a hand-timed event is to add .24 seconds to the number after it's rounded to the nearest tenth.
Grizzled track coaches love to say that the "clock doesn't lie." Well, it does in football.

Say someone clocks a hand-timed 4.35 in an NFL workout.

The accepted standard to convert a hand-timed event to its automatically timed equivalent is to round up to the nearest tenth of a second

I doubt it, man, Duke is to Maryland basketball what Pittsburgh is to the Ravens, what Virginia and Syracuse are to JHU, Loyola, Towson, UMD lacrosse, i.e. the archnemesis.
