Yay, we drafted an Ed Reed stalker!!!!!! (fun game, count how many times he says he wants to meet Ed Reed in such a short quote)

"It's strange how it worked out," Webb said. "I just wanted to meet Ed Reed. I went to the game, and all I wanted to do was meet Ed Reed. I really wasn't paying attention to the game; I wanted to meet Ed Reed that bad. It was just...I wanted to meet Ed Reed, I don't know.

"It was a great game and everything, he had two interceptions, but I just wanted to meet Ed Reed."

he is really small but he can gain some weight by next year and be a solid cory ivy with actual covering skill not tackling people after they gain 20 yards.

yes you are right. He has no upside in KR or PR because we have chris carr.

i was kinda disappointed that we took a CB in the 3rd. I think our backfield is already pretty solid, and Samari already fits as a nickelback with Carr as the Dimeback. We have plenty of people already with return potential so i mean this just doesnt make perfect sense to me.

This is from the article on the main site (can be found here)...
Webb, 5-foot-10, 179 pounds, is the only player in NCAA Division I history to receive the conference awards of Offensive Player of the Week, Defensive Player of the Week, and Special Teams Player of the Week in a single season.

In a 2007 matchup against Rice, Webb intercepted three passes and returned one for a touchdown. Later that year, Webb suited up at quarterback and rushed for 120 yards and one touchdown on only eight carries. He also finished that year second nationally in punt returns, with a 17.5-yard average, and 19th in kickoff returns (27.0-yard average).

At the NFL Scouting Combine earlier this year, Webb ran 40-yard dash in 4.35 seconds, registered a 36.5-inch vertical leap and bench pressed 225 pounds 15 times.

In 2008, Webb posted 55 tackles, three sacks, two interceptions and two fumble recoveries. He also returned one punt and one kickoff for touchdowns.
Count me on the bandwagon, extremely versatile player we've got here people, I like the pick.

Great pick. 15 reps for a 5'9 178 is pretty impressive.

He just creates more depth and seems to be the future replacement for Samari when he decides to retire in a few years. We may have the fastest corners in the NFL(minus Samari)

This guys starts day one at CB!
That's pretty bold indeed. I doubt it though.

I'm not gonna hate on the guy just cause im disappointed in the pick, I do think he has all the tools to provide us with great depth in the backfield, but with Foxworth/Washington/Rolle/Carr I think we're pretty solid.

Although, since Samari probably probably won't be around much longer, I guess it would be good to start grooming his replacement...

ehhhh....after weighing things out like that I guess I'll hop on board too :P

was a good pick..... do you know our kind of luck with CB's/DB's?

WE RUN OUT OF THEM AT SOME POINT IN THE SEASON

so that said we can't have too many of these guys..... nothing says this more than the 2007 season when we actually used corey ivy as a DB.... i'd watch games and i'd see ivy in the middle of the field.... while his assignment was on the outside of the field down by our 30 yard line WIDE OPEN

EDIT

and then our CB's ran out in the AFCCG

I agree... with our injury history with DBs... you can never have enough. I just think they could have drafted a guy that didn't play safety the majority of his football career. And also, a taller guy to deal with the likes of Braylon and Holmes in the division. He did look to have really good footwork in his combine drills though. So maybe he makes the transition smoothly and is a welcomed surprise!
I like his physicality. He seems to be a pretty hard hitter. A bit small though
That's what I thought but he has the closing speed to make up for it.

he reminds me of a combo of Anotine Winfield and Asante Samuel, a playmaker who is just always on the ball making plays and then he is also a very physcial guy for his size like winfield
I think it's a great pick here in the 3rd round. He's better than Frank Walker (then again, most people are), so we don't have to deal with his comic incompetence anymore. We can start him out at dime, and slowly work him to nickel as Rolle gets older and our future secondary can be Fox and Fabe starting with Webb at nickel. I like what Ozzie is doing here, very good pick.

Plus, he has a ghettotastic name!
I still think the draft had better players available at this pick! But who am I to question the great and powerful OZ!
You know, I don't think this is as bad as a pick as everyone is saying. Just because he is not a known player from some big school, does not mean he can not be good...right?
I think for anyone to succeed on the Ravens they must be a big-name player from a FBS school. There's no way anyone from FCS could succeed on the Ravens.

So is Flacco from FCS Delaware an exception?

Also, Webb did play for the Division 1 FBS Team, Southern Mississippi, before he got dismissed and played for Nicholls State.

Who do you think we should have picked instead?

Naturally, Webb would look terrible if we asked him to cover a Santonio Holmes right now. He's pretty raw, but big upside.

Great athlete but suspect man coverage skills. He loves football and teaches it to kids; he should be very coachable on learning how not to bite on double moves, pump fakes, etc. Speedy, a hard hitter, and versatile on special teams. What's not to like?

I do not think he was drafted to start at CB, we have Washington, Foxworth, Rolle and Carr. He will get in where he fits in. I'm just going to sit back and check off my list of promises he made during the season, if I check of 70%, he will get a passing grade. :o

He'll be useful this year one way or another, I'm just thinking about playing CB in the future and how he'll translate. He'd have to really impress the coaches to be any more than a quarter or at most dime back with Derrick Martin and other depth we have. They often use a safety for a corner, or even a LB (Bart Scott we used to) for that 6th "DB" in dime anyway, so Webb will have a hard time finding playing time on D his rookie year, barring injuries.

By "quarter back" I don't mean Quarterback, of course, but the 5th corner used in the "Quarter" defense with 5 CB's and two safeties.
