Its safe to say that the draft philosophy this year is depth. We've had problems with depth the past few years and they really hurt us.
I agree. It's great having studs as your starters but injuries happen and nothing is more frustrating than having to watch 4th and 5th string corners get beat mercilessly.

Webb isn't very big but he looks like a good cover corner and plays big too.

Hi guys, I go to Nicholls State and have been following Lardarius since he started on our football team. You guys will be amazed at the player's ability. His closing speed is phenomenal and he can read the QB with instinct. I will admit he lacks size; they need to beef him up some this off-season. He had three interceptions in his first game against Rice (Chase Clement 70% above passer); returning 2 for TD's. He reminds me of Reed. I have also talked to him on several occasions (he is currently my neighbor) and he is very humble and has a "team attitude."

Did you get his autograph?

no man, I have never asked him for his autograph. I guess I should. I normally just congratulate him on a great game or talk football with him. I worked for the school newspaper, "The Nicholls Worth" and did the first media story about him after the Rice game when he had the three picks. Nobody really knew of him at that point and it was really cool to kind of "break the news" that we had NFL talent at our school. Our university is pretty small and our football team was mediocre before Webb showed up. It was fascinating to watch him play. One day our coach put him in at QB for like 10 plays and I think he rushed for 130 yards with a TD. He would always return a punt or kickoff for a TD in home games. It was like watching a collegiate football player play amongst high school opponents. Anyhow, it is just really great that he is with a classy organization and I will be supporting the Ravens from here on out.

The only way Webb and Pittman compare are in their size and small schools. They are completely different guys on the field, and Webb actually loves the game where didn't as much (loved the $?).

Webb actually started at Southern Miss and was recruited by multiple big schools. I believe he was offered scholarships to teams like Auburn, Alabama, and maybe LSU. Webb got into some trouble after he found his girlfriend was pregnant....by another guy. So he ended up transferring to Nicholls State and made the most of it. He's nothing like David Pittman

And he by far has the better name, hands down

Pittman is bigger than Webb. I like Webb but he's very small.

He is a little bit bigger than Webb, but not by much. Pittman is 5-11 186 while Webb is something like 5-9 178. Neither really has good size lol.

You're right. Hopefully the comparison ends there. I've never seen a CB bite as hard on a double move as Pittman did. He literally touched his shoes! Garbage...

Potential starter with Foxworth? or do you think he'll be a backup? I think it'll eb Rolle and Foxworth, but this guy could prove me wrong.

I still think this was a bad pick.... There were so many great players still there and we picked and undersized (yes, I know he can jump) and underweight corner..... Fast does not mean everything... I will lay a stack of cash that Crazy Als Raiders dont win 6 games this year! And this team is all about speed.... I hope my man Ozzie proves me wrong. But for now I think this was the worst 3rd round pick in recent memory...

Are you guaranteeing hes going to be different to Pittman? lets cut all the bull and spin out of it. Theres nothing to indicate that he will succeed where Pittman didnt. All I said was nobody knew who he was before we drafted him and hes just like Pittman in that hes a small corner from a small school with "potential".

But hey, nobody ever gets it right all the time. Not Mayock, not Ozzy, not Harbaugh not you and not me etc etc I mean hey, I was wrong about Flacco being the second coming of Boller.

Ultimately I hope he is a gem.

I will admit i don't know much about this kid. I never heard of him until the combine, but i won't just say that he was a bad pick because of it. Alot of times people just see names in the later part of the draft and want those guys to be drafted just because u know or heard of them.

I think that he will add value to ST early on and have to fight to see the field at DB. The thing that should help him is that he won't be looked to step in anytime soon, he can just continue to develop and proform when needed.

I like his toughness, something that we need on the back end. I like his offensive mentality when the ball is in his hands. I think he is the kind of guy that will fit in well with this defense.

Only time will tell if Webb was a good pick up. I think he will add tremendous depth and competetion to that position in training camp.

Martin, Carr, Walker, Webb, Olegsby all will have to fight just to see the field behind Foxworth, Washington, and Rolle.

guys, chill out for a sec... all of our coaches are really excited about the players we got in the draft. in talking about webb, harbaugh, who was the secondary and special teams coach at the eagles and should know a lot about these kind of players, said how thrilled they were to get him, especially chuck pagano, our secondary coach. he talked about the relationship they developed when he went to work him out and he came away hoping that we would take the kid. the guy also idolizes ed reed and tries to pattern his play after him. it's true he wasn't on anyone's radar before we drafted him, but we do have a good track record of taking unknown/little known players and making them into stars. it may yet work out that way with webb.

They will use him as a return specialist for sure. His return ability is insane. I think he returned a punt or kickoff for a TD in the first five games last season. He returned a field goal for a TD vs. Memphis. I watched him return a kickoff 99 yards vs. NWST where he broke about 5-6 tackles.

A lot of draft analyzers have been giving us tons of praise for picking him up. Which I found shocking at first because I thought we'd get criticized for picking a CB, who will fight just for a nickle slot, rather than a WR or some other players that were still on the board. They said that Webb is their #1 sleeper of the draft, a fantastic 2nd day pickup, and the BEST return man in college football! Wow, thanks guys, I hope you're right! I listened to an interview with him on 105.7 "The Fan" and he definately seems like our kind of guy who said he, 'Wants to bring a championship to Baltimore country'!

Nice commercial featuring Webb in action (A must see!)

anyone think there's an outside chance of chris carr getting released after we just signed him this offseason?.. our CB depth is off the charts and we have more than adequete return men (webb, zibby, rice, figurs)

Off the chart for depth maybe, Foxworth and Rolle are the only consistent players and Rolle is injury prone and 34yo. Our #2 cb is going to change so often this season its going to make our heads spin.
