Can someone please give some info on him? I'm reading about him on some good sites but I want to know what people here think about him or have seen from him?

I love this guy because he has an unbelievable motor and has character. I think he fits perfectly with our team and he is a Ravens kind of player.

Not a highly touted recruit coming out of highschool. Was recruited as a "athlete" and I believe he played some QB in high school. He had 7.5 sacks last year in college and 4 of them came in the same game against Utah St. 16.5 tackles for loss last year (led the team). Red shirt sophmore i'm pretty sure. NFL.com say he was on a 2 year LDS mission after his redshirt year, which makes him a little older than most sophmores.

think of him as another jarrett johnson type of guy, he's gotta get stronger to be able to get to the QB more consistantly

I wonder if he will challenge J.J. for his spot.

i think he's more of a situational guy for now but down the road quite possibly, if he beefs up he could replace pryce down the line

There's a youtube video of him playing against Michigan, and the whole Sugar Bowl is on hulu.com for free streaming if you want to check out his tape against Alabama.

I don't understand this pick since we already have Barnes and McClain waiting in the wings... Barnes is an absolute beast and McClain proved a very valuable asset last season. Oh well, we'll see what happens. Ozzie has missed in the 2nd Round in the past (see Dan Cody).

He's supposedly going to be a DE, not a LB. He's much better there tahn McClain and Barnes because he's a good run stopper too. I like the pick.

Kruger was listed as a "Red Star" player, someone that gets a unanimious vote of confidence from the entire personnel department.

Obviously the Ravens loved this guy and I think he will be a good player for us.

Paul Kruger DE Utah
Height: 6'4" | Weight: 263 lbs. | 40-yard dash: 4.83

An elite pass rusher who was a key player and a team leader for the undefeated Utah Utes. He is hard to contain and can single handedly take over a game ie: against Utah State he recorded 4 sacks! He has a non-stop motor and plays with great intensity. He has only played 2 years and was one of the best players on the team. He is highly productive with no ceiling in sight. Many compare him to Pro-Bowlers Aaron Kampman or Jared Allen.

There were rumors that we wanted to trade down with our 2nd round pick for more picks, but we liked Kruger too much to pass him up!

"A closer look at the Ravens' picks: Round 2/57 -- Paul Kruger, DE/OLB, 6-4, 265, Utah...There was a temptation to trade their second-round pick and acquire more selections on Day 2. But the Ravens placed too much value on Kruger, who will immediately impact the Ravens' pass rush. His high motor and determination drew the Ravens to him. Kruger has some medical issues -- he has one kidney and was stabbed in January 2008 -- but the Ravens said he was cleared by team trainers." -NFLDraftScout.com

I heard we were going to trade down with our first and take Kruger with the first pick we had! I liked how it turned out MUCH better.

Dan Cody had a ton of talent, just couldn't stay healthy because of *cough cough steroids* so I can't blame that on Oz. I think he will play DE so we dont need to compare him to JJ, Barnes, Burgess, McClain etc etc...

I dont know what you guys are talking about but i dont see any resemblance to jarret johnson. I think he is an athletic guy not the tough nasty kind of guy jarret is. The reason i think we picked him is becasue he has sooooooo much potential. He has only had 2 years at his position half of which he played QB so really 1 and a half. His potensial is very high because every year something has happened to him the stabbing a year ago and the church mission for 2 year so he hasn't had the time to devote to football.

i agree with sizzle, kruger is way more of an athlete than jj
and i think he is more of an athlete than chris long and see him as the next AD.
he played practically every defensive position but cb in college for an undefeated utah team and did you see what they did against alabama in the bowl game?

In watching his film, I would actually compare Kruger to Trevor Pryce. (Why can't we ever compare players across race lines? but I digress).

Especially if he adds weight to his frame and gets up to 280, I see Trevor Pryce as a comparable player. Again this is based on the footage I have seen. I haven't seen him playing outside of the viedo footage which is impressive.

People are saying we will have Kruger bulk up and replace Pryce but don't you think it would make for sense to move Kruger to OLB to replace Jarret Johnson since he is supposed to be a better pass rusher and move Johnson inside to replace Pryce? I mean Johnson was a former d-lineman and he's a better run stuffer anyway which a DE in a 3-4 really needs to be.

Because the best white defensive ends arent as athletic as the best black defensive ends.

I really hope Kruger can improve the pass rush. In some of the big losses last year and even in the close games, the pass rush was almost non-existent.

That's exactly my thinking as well. I think he will be able to get a pass rush from the inside when he bulks up, probably next year. But I'm really liking him.

are pass rush did seem to go away a few games but we always get the pressure n never tackle the qb so hopefully kruger can get to the qb but bring him down to cuz thats another issue with our pass rushers but that should stop with kelly gregg coming back.

Bringing the QB down only seemed to be a major problem against Pittsburgh. Roethlisberger is a big, slippery walrus.

A walrus? I love that lol. If Kruger can lay him out like Scott did (only consistently) we'll be set.
