Ok so we draft a OL in the first round and than a hybrid DE in the 2nd round (why do we need another defensive player)... no WR what are we going to do on offense <_< ????????????????????

Stop whining... A better OL will let Heap run routes, and Clayton is getting better. McGahee is probably going to do really good this year, and Rice is also improving. Not to mention Flacco is also going to be much better now.

do you want Flacco to have ANY chance of being hurt???

I don't.....so the Oher pick is solid.

Kruger from what I am hearing is going to replace Trevor Pryce by bulking up to about 280 pounds

The Ravens have proven that they don't need a true #1 receiver to win games. Defense and pounding the rock is still the name of the game

No, but if you can play LT (the much harder position) you can play RT

I know it's harder. I played left tackle. The footwork is different for the right side but I see your point.

yeah i would much rather draft some project WR and hope he develops over the next 3 years and watch Flacco lay on his back because we left in Heap to block because Adam Terry sucks worse at blocking that any TE or even Haloti Ngata. Willie Anderson is anchient and we might get like a half season out of him before he retires.

Now heap can actually go out and try to catch passes like he used to. Maybe you just dont understand how good Oher is. At the end of last years draft, Oher was projected to be the #1 T in the draft in 09 and projected to go in the top 5 picks. As the draft came around Ohers stock dropped a bit, but he was projected to go in the top 15. We got a steal, and now we are set at T for the next 10+ years, and we're talking pro bowl caliber Ts. We have to face James Harrison and company twice a year and maybe the playoffs, this is a smart move. Check out the war room video, everyone was excited with this pick, Harbaugh said "best OL in football". And good pass protection makes even mediocre QBs look good.

If you think about it there are still some pretty decent WR in the draft.

Ramses Barden, Louis Murphy, Aaron Kelly, Brandon Tate, and Deon Butler.

Murphy hasn't been getting any attention, because of Percy Harvin and has been overlooked. This guy ran a 4.43 at the combine, basically he is a taller version of Harvin, but without the elusiveness of Harvin to me.

Tate has been overlooked as well after the injury he suffered. Before he was injured he was NC's main WR and the guy there.

I like the OT pick , if the O-line improves LJ smith and Heap can actually catch rather than block, though as a long time fan of the Ravens it has always perplexed me that the WR has been such a problem.
Last time we had two good WR was when Derrick Alexander and Michael Jackson (the receiver not the child molester) were on the team.

IMO the Steelers didn't improve much from last year. While you can probably say the same thing about the Ravens, we did however improve the OL. Considering how close the games were last year, I think we are still evenly matched

I agree that we can still get a good wide out, like Derrick Williams or Ramses Barden, guys who have a very high ceiling but didn't prove themselves as a first day talent. I would have rather D.J. Moore over Kruger in the second round. D.J. Moore was once a thought as our 1st pick at 26 in some mock drafts.

Just to add to that list of WR's....
Juaquin Iglesias-Oklahoma
Patrick Turner-USC
Derrick Williams-Penn State

Plus dont forget about the WR's that are in FA...loke ex-Giants WR Amani Toomer, ex-Colts WR Marvin Harrison, both IMO will probably sign for cheap money after the draft.

Just an opinion here, But don't teams always have to say that they picked the Best Player Available? I mean if you didn't then you just basically said that this guy was not the BPA and as a result we just overpaid him.

Because we didn't have 20 picks like them. At the time of the trade, we had 4 picks left total...they had 4 picks in the 2nd round alone. That gives a team some flexibility.

Dude I like the sig...I want one of those :(

But I aggree, if we don't get a late round Wr (which we no doubt will) we still have the chance to get the guy who consistantly burned us year after year. It would be awesome to use his talent he has left to burn teams this year.

Most teams draft for there needs. If they need a reciever but really the best reciever is not worth the pick, its a reach. BPA is any postion. The Ravens make a list of who they think is the best from number 1 to 200. if we pick at 26 and reciever is a need but we have the next best reciever rated at number 40 on the list, they do not take Him most of the time. Its happened to work out for us on more then a couple of tmes, recently, ed reed and Heap.

Does anyone know why he fell from being considered the #1 tackle to #4 or so?

I like both picks a lot actually. I was hoping for Hakeem Nicks or Kenny Britts myself but Oher will be great for us, he won me over with the post selection interview right up on the stage. Kruger should be a great fit for us too, he was great for Utah last year. Don't forget that Trevor Pryce isn't exactly young anymore...

Do we want to stick with that philosophy forever? It's like Princeton basketball. Fundamentals and D are great, but why not have Defense AND Offense? There's no need to purposely exclude the passing game because we're sticking to tradition.

It really was. And although tackle wasnt our most glaring need, we still needed a good young RT as Terry has been a Bust.
Oher should have been top 12 but one of the biggest reason teams get top 12 picks is... ? they draft on need and reach on players. * Cough * Cough * Oakland..

i diasgree.. flacco wasnt the BPA on the boar last year, but we had a need at QB so we had to take a "lesser" player to fill a need.

Oh Contrary, I think this is a GREAT pick
we just locked up our Tackles for the next 10-12 years.
The Hybrid guys a great pick as well, we've had great luck with them ( Sizzle, JJ, Peter Boulware, Jameel McClain, etc)

Side Note: The Oakland Raiders are officially the dumbest team in football
DHB at 7?! Whatchu Talkin Bout Willis?

Btw I was at the Spring Football Festival Today and had a great time, I met Foxy, Marcus Maxwell, Matt Katula, and Chris Chester, they were all very nice people and talked to everyone. I also had the privilage to shake hands with an all time great, Art Donovan, who is one of the funniest and nicest people you'll ever meet.

anybody else go out today?
