26 posts in this topic

yet another topic of pre-draft BS that's just a waste of the listeners time. why is sportscenter even dignifying it with airtime?

Sure it could be in London. The Lions and the Chiefs will probably play in it, and the Patriots won't cheat at all that season; Sam Suisham will make all of his field goals...it's gonna be great.

This will never happen. Just like the Lions season last year...No matter how many times you watch, they will never win a game.

Diehard fans make their ways across the whole country to see their team play in the superbowl and spend fortunes. Now they'll have to pay for a plane ticket to go to London and accompany the whole 500 NFL fans there. Brilliant idea.

They should at least promote the NFL more in England before there is a SB there...American Football is growing there, but is not popular enough for the SB.

All right! Super Bowl in London! But don't stop there,
Final Four in Berlin, the World Series in Australia,
Stanley Cup Finals in Tokyo.....and the list continues....

It would be kind of nice, but its unlikely.

Believe me this isn't even close to being true, it would be all over the tv over here and i haven't heard a thing! It isn't even believable, we got this Pats Tampa game coming up but nothing planned after that unless they negotiate another game.

I think they will go elsewhere for the next International Game, maybe Germany or Mexico but nobody outside of the US wiil ever get a Superbowl!!

It's cheap to fly to London, probably a lot cheaper than some places on the West Coast of the USA. They have good beer too.

This explains the good beer. I've never actually eaten anything in the British Isles, just on their planes.

Both International Games in the UK were instant sellouts so i'm pretty sure there's more than 500 UK fans, nevermind the 100's of thousands of die hard NFL fans in other European countries who would happily travel to the games if they can get tickets (and many do).

With that being said i don't think it would be fair to host the Superbowl overseas, nor do i think it would happen! The US fans should definately come first because it's a US sport. Making them pay a lot of money to come to the UK is not the way it should be, it should be International fans who should pay to travel to the US to take in these games! I would love to fly out for a Superbowl, it wouldn't feel the same if i was watching one here in the UK.

i understand what your saying.... i'm not saying it should go there like every year.... like once every 5-10 years would be good.... think of it this way.... if your a football fan and you want to see the world..... you've just got a double whammy right there

but seriously why should the NFL not do this.... it would be awesome...... it could make football far more of an International sport than it already is..... I mean how many of us can actually afford a superbowl ticket anyway (i know i can't :/)

as much as it would suck for the American fan base

I think it would be the right thing for the NFL to do for a few reasons
1) Spread the fan base around the world
2) Increased revenue for them
3) Could possibly put out another bowl/tournament like the playoffs..... but it would be more like the Fifa World cup (where it goes from around the world)

Have you eaten a filet mignon in the UK? (Or anything for that matter?)

Just because the UK hasn't got the wide selection of greasy fast food places you're used to eating at doesn't mean we don't have fine dining and fantastic restaurants. If you have had bad eating experiences in the UK it doesn't mean you can label the WHOLE of the UK as having "bad food".

Every Country has their good and their bad and i doubt you have eaten in every eaterie over here ;)

I see your point but surely they can achieve all of that with just the regular season games, i just don't agree with the biggest game of the season being moved overseas even if it was only once. It just wouldn't be the same.

And the World Cup is a different thing entirely because it's a worldwide sport and it's played every 4 years in a Country that is taking part in the Tournament. I just don't see American Football ever taking off to the point where that was possible, (even though i agree it would be awesome). :)

i personally never ate there... and i know it is wrong for me to talk before i try... but i have a friend who is a chef who i agree with about 98% of the time when it comes to food and thats what he told me (he travels alot)

for the Superbowl overseas

a regular season game is one thing.... the superbowl is a whole other thing...

i know the world cup is different.... but i was kind of basing that you do something like it.... get the world involved... at least make it an olympic sport haha.....

but again to the superbowl thing.... at least do the pro bowl in different locations.... this way fans get to see their favorite players live..... and i mean its not like its going to hurt us that much to lose the pro bowl game

PLUS it would give the players that vacation sense... if you know what i mean

EDIT: For the record i don't like those fast food joints.... don't get me wrong once in a while is ok.... but they suck food wise.... i hate that greasy stuff, i like food that i either cook myself or you actually have to dress somewhat nice to go eat

mcdonalds and BK don't cut it...

haha that greasy food comment was just me generalizing the US food same as you did for the UK :P

The Pro Bowl idea is actually a good one, i'm on board with that but obviously it would have to be after the Superbowl. Like you said it's a vacation type deal for the players and fans around the world would get the chance to meet their favourite players and the best players in the league.

It would be a bit of a shock to the system to vacate to the UK instead of Hawaii or Miami in February though

idk if you are up to date with it and all

but alot of the players have already stated it would feel more like work than a vacation at the pro bowl since it's being moved to miami

hawaii is a "vacation" state and has no NFL football team therefore its a vacation for the players..... different countries bring in different sights, and same vacation feeling

plus the NFL wouldn't have to worry about it not selling out because i'm sure everyone wants to go see their favorite player live.... let alone the best in the league

I was talking in terms of weather more than anything!! I doubt they would wanna play a chilled out enjoyable Pro Bowl game at a windy, cold and rainy stadium in the UK :P

They would be begging for a nice holiday to Miami or Hawaii the following year
