Larry Fitzgerald and Troy Polamalu both on the cover for the first time in madden!

Madden Curse anyone?

I hope not for Fitz. Big fan of his, and I would hate to see him get the curse. Not a huge believer in the curse, but yeah, I'll definitely root against it

Boom, I called it:
A lot of indications are pointing towards the cover being split for the first time ever by two players: Troy Polamalu and Larry Fitzgerald.

Reasons?

1) It emphasizes the new balanced gameplay that EA Sports has been touting on both sides of the ball
2) Both players are highly marketable, especially Fitzgerald right now with his outstanding performance this past postseason
3) Both players represent the most recent Super Bowl teams, possibly starting a new, easier method of picking the cover athlete(s)
4) Both players are among the best at their respective positions

So, to be perfectly honest, the chances of Ed Reed making the cover are getting slimmer and slimmer when you consider this possibility as well as the greater chance of the other candidates making it, particularly Adrian Peterson and Ben Roethlisberger.

The only other "split-cover" possibility I could see with the candidates revealed thus far is Ben Roethlisberger and Ed Reed, to emphasize the rivalry aspect of the game as well as in keeping with most of the reasons I listed above for Fitzgerald-Polamalu.
I should be offended as they apparently value Troy over Ed, but they're just marketing their game to the huge Pittsburgh fanbase.

Yes and no. Do you really think people care who is on the cover? They could put Kyle Orton on the cover and we would be buying it. It is the ONLY choice for football games that are any good, you have to buy it if you want to play.

I think its a decent cover....

They could put Ryan Leaf on the cover and I'd still buy the game. They could put the crew of Monday Night Football on the cover and I'd still buy the game. They could put literally dirt on the cover and nothing but dirt, and I'd still buy the game.

I don't think the Madden Cover has looked this good since Ray Ray's been on the cover. But in all seriousness, EA made a great choice for the cover players this year. The Cover looks great... its already my background on my lab top. ;) Of course, my biased Ravens side says Ed Reed should have been on the cover instead of Troy but Im alright with it, it goes back to my thought of taking players from the Super Bowl.

There would have been only 3 ways I would have liked Reed on the cover anyhow.

3. Ed Reed by himself

2. Ed Reed and Big Ben, just like someone said, to show case probably the best rivarly in NFL today.

1. Ed Reed and Troy, to showcase the 2 best Safteys in the league from the # 1 and 2 defenses last year. Maybe the picture they could have used for Reed was a picture of him returning the 107 INT TD against Philly, and Troy could have been the picture of(I'm not starting anything here so don't be mad) when he picked off Joe to seal up the trip to Tampa for the Steelers.

while I can see why everyone agrees here with the Ed Reed thing, it makes a LOT more sense to have polamalu and fitz since they were both in the Superbowl. I can guarantee you if we had beaten pitt and went to the SB, win or lose...it would have been Reed and Fitz on the cover...cool idea, i like it.
