Outside Linebackers

21 posts in this topic

I know Suggs and Johnson are our starting outside linebackers, who else do we have here that has any trade value.... I only say this because of this article http://www.azcentral.com/sports/cardinals/...sneeds0423.html

Other than Suggs no one is really enough of a trade, Antwan Barnes shows a lot of potential but they will definitely want Suggs

We could trade Troy Smith for Vernon Gholston...then Trade Vernon Gholston to someone else for a 4th round pick, then trade Ray Rice + the water boy for a 2nd round pick...then trade a 2nd + 4th for 2 3rd round picks...then trade our 1st + Heap + 2 3rd round picks for Boldin + Joe Bidden...then when we're down by a FG in the 4th quarter Bidden can call Obama to give an executive order to airstrike the opposing teams sideline...then while everyone is in panic we can steal the other teams waterboy, thus replacing the watwer boy we lost in the trade, follow by Joe Flacco throwing a TD to Anquan Boldin...and then we win the GAME!!!

Get on it Ozzie!

haha now what does that have to do with our outside linebackers i was asking about.. plus rice was a 2nd round pick throwing in the waterboy we should get more then just a 2nd.

I think you're overestimating Kyle Boller's trade value

Why do ya'll want to trade away the team? Trade Suggs, trade Rice, trade Flacco, trade Heap--this is not Madden!

Hmm could we trade moderators? I'll give the cardinals mod 1 and 200 cash and our 2015 1st round pick for boldin..

Wat? That's more realistic than some on here

Something to keep in mind...

Jarrett Johnson 5 sacks
Terrell Suggs 8 sacks

How much are we going to be paying them? are they pass rushers or run stoppers?

Why does everyone want to trade Ray Rice? Don't get it at all, he would have fairly low trade value anyway.

People hate on JJ but he is a solid player. Just because his antics don't match up to Bart Ray and Terrell's, he doesn't get noticed. I am glad though, at least one of our guys shouldn't be clamoring for record breaking deals.

what these players need to know is its the NFL every1 is replaceable.... look at cutler.... however there are exceptions to the rule..... like larry fitzgerald..... or this one freakishly insane free safety he wears #20... i don't remember the team he plays for.... but he makes interceptions like crazy.... oh and ppl constantly compare him to a SS :)

Does it make sense that a "solid" player with no upside gets paid so much? with our system and d-line we could slot in any cheap LB at strongside and get the same average production.

I don't think "any cheap LB" would get the same production.

I mean Barnes, McClain, Jones etc. Guys who are fast and can actually pass rush.

And none of those young guys have been able to beat out JJ for a spot in training camp. If u can't do it in camp then it won't happen when the season starts.

JJ doesn't fill up a stat sheet, but he does a lot of valuable things on the field to allow plays to be made. He is like a offensive lineman. Does all the dirty work that allows plays to happen and gets little to no credit for it.

But he never complain and always shows up to work. Keep lining guys up to take his spot and he will keep figthing to keep it and probably outwork them all.

This is the biggest reason Rex Ryans schemes work. He has guys who does "dirty work", takes on lead blockers so other guys can run around untouched.
JJ has been solid but I still dont think He's great as a pass rusher anymore, Seems odd as He was a DE in college. But I still beleive He should keep His starting OLB spot, but we will probally see Him more of a 2 down guy as Barnes and Mcclain should see more 3rd downs this year.

I agree there are better options out there at OLB then JJ. Hell i even think the Ravens should target Sintim today or Henzrich out of Boston College next year.

My point is JJ just does his job. and having to do those dirty things in Rex's system might have been the reason for such poor production as far as numbers. Now i can't sit here and say that JJ will breakout under Matti but i also can't say that he is not a asset to this defense.

Now i think that one of the 3 young guys will come close to double digit sacks this year, either Barnes, McClain, or Jones. But it will be hard for one of those guys to take over the starting duties from JJ full time.

Nobody was going to change the status quo where run stopping comes first. Solid players doing the dirty work should be on line, and our LBs should be making the game changing plays.
